Looking back at my photos of other relay case mounted signals, I noticed the signal at 107.8 (basically at 108) was clearly marked 44.0. That distance from Trowbridge makes sense for 114 marked 31, but not sure about 107.8 marked 44.

I noticed the old searchlight signals mounted on old semaphore bases at milepost 114 have a subtle “31.0” marked on the relay cabinet base. Were mileposts ever marked from Grand Rapids in this section? I don’t see any other reason why those numbers would be there.

GRE east thru Ada at 10:44. First morning run I’ve seen in quite some time due to MOW curfews. Didn’t see if they had both 2104 and 2043 but it was a pretty long train of King loads.
