Re: CIND

Better late than no answer - CIND runs a 4pm crew out of Valley Jct OH to Greensburg Tuesday thru Saturday. Assuming they don’t have to go east to dog catch first, they typically arrive at Honda in Greensburg beteen 8PM and 10PM. Spend 2 or so hours putting inbound train away and picking up outbound...

The Ag is Winchester Ag or WinAg. Grain elevator in Winchester OH. The scrap yard is Cohen Recycling in Macon OH, just outside of Winchester. The packaging company is Huhtamaki. They make Chinette Brand paper plates, plus cups, bowls, French fry cartons, etc., for dozens of fast food companies. Inbo...

Re: NS Peavine talk

2 yellow and blue ones are out in Washington State. Black one still hidden on line somewhere stored out of service (does not run). Whenever the owner of it needs it, it will get dragged out, worked on to return to service and shipped out.

Re: NS Peavine talk

The old cable pull system still there to. Nothing was ever remove, just buried or over grown. Don’t expect much of that track to be restored to service immediately but it could happen depending on how business grows.

Re: NS Peavine talk

You do realize there still a couple miles of track that goes into quarry at Plum Run. And lots and lots of open ground along mainline owned by Hanson. Don’t think coming up with a loading plan is going to be a problem. Likewise lots of railroad owned or rented ground in Macon for that truck to rail ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Both groups easy to tune out. Face it, B&O is dead and gone. Can’t change the past. But the Peavine is still there. Fun to stir the pot every so often. But with Peavine being real, there are those morons who think it’s their God given right to trespass to their hearts content. Those are the worst ha...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Not really. NS seems content to hold onto properties now “just in case”. East end Peavine, Tipton to Kokomo, Saluda, are three I can think of right off top of my head. UP does same with Tennessee Pass. Even CSX starting to do - think Illinois sub. Like I said, property taxes are not that big of a de...

Re: NS Peavine talk

NS portion of line has a Federal Discontinuance of Service designating. As such, it is NOT abandoned, thus can NOT be sold for a trail. However, all common carrier obligations are suspended and line can not be used without going to STB to reactivate. So it sits in limbo under NS ownership. NS is con...

Re: NS Peavine talk

CCET pays all property taxes, does all maintenance, keeps all lease revenue (private crossing, utilities, easements, etc) on everything from MP 9 to Jaybird Road, same as if they owned it. However, tax amounts are negligible - insurance is a lot more than taxes. Other than some tax heavy states that...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Sure, anything is possible as long as rails are still there. But its a LONG shot and I can assure you no one is looking into it. Plus, unless you find some sort of extractable product in the ground (oil, gas, coal, copper, etc.), why would any company needing rail decide to build a facility in a geo...

Re: NS Peavine talk

CCET has only been around since 2014 - just over 5 years, not 10. Storage rates are customer specific, not car type specific. NS wants absolutely NOTHING to do with an interchange in Portsmouth. Plus why would CCET want to interchange in Portsmouth vs Cincinnati for same money? That's just added exp...

44 of em so far. Modern 50ft high cube 100 tonners that NS is returning to lessor. Same leasing company that uses CCET for tank cars, cover hoppers, open top hoppers, etc. as their Midwest car lot.

Re: NS Peavine talk

Traffic has been fairly strong on CCET past few months, but not many tank cars so not sure what NS guys are talking about. Yesterday (11/14) CCET dropped 43 cars on Main 1 at Clare, not a tank car among them. Storage business overall is soft right now. Where was a rail inspection done? Assuming NS t...

Y@ - you forgot the queens of the fleet - the three CIND marked units. How could you forget the 2 gensets and the old Pirate that compose the cornerstones of the fleet - the very building blocks of your entire empire.

Line is unused past Whitewater Milling to current end of in service track, held onto for future development. Line north of current end to Brookville is out of service and impassable - multiple washouts, ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Jaybird Road east of Plum Run is the eastern most limit of CCET. Not such thing as Plum Road. Only thing that could even remotely be of interested would be to take another couple miles and pickup the siding at Rarden for additional storage. But the storage market would have to change drastically to ...
