Re: Amtrak Asset Line Plan FY20-25

Dispatch reliability is meant to include all facets of moving their trains on-time.
Not leaving Pontiac on-time usually isn't due to an issue with CN, it's an issue with Amtrak.

Western Michigan Railroad Historical Society in Sparta?
Can't be that one.

Owens Ames Kimball construction apparently uses/used some on their construction sites.
But can't locate any pictures. Google doesn't appear to show any in their yard next to US-131.

Re: Amtrak Asset Line Plan FY20-25

8 trains a day plus whatever locals NS runs and Amtrak needs to make that 2 main track territory?
What they really need to do is improve the dispatch reliability so that the trains are at the proper sidings at the proper times.

Re: New Connection in New Buffalo AMTK.

The article was more about the ability of Twin Cities folks being able to connect from St. Joe to NewBuff and then connecting to Wolverine Service eastward. As I replied to the Trains article, there is but one train in the early morning and one in the mid evening...making connections somewhat...pro...

Re: New Connection in New Buffalo AMTK.

Blue Water and Wolverines stop in New Buffalo.
Pere Marquette does not stop in New Buffalo.
Pere Marquette serves St. Joseph-Benton Harbor.
New Buffalo would like a connection from the CSX line to Grand Rapids and the Amtrak Michigan Line.
That connection is practical. But would take money.

Re: New Connection in New Buffalo AMTK.

How about the Pere Marquette serving New Buffalo?
The Blue Water and Wolverine already stop at New Buffalo.
Practical yes, just needs money.

Where be it? It's not in Michigan, but Indiana, so I left the road name on there.
There can only be 1 or 2 hundred railroad streets in Indiana

Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming

WMI has now begun rehabing rail east of CR681. Still lots of tank cars. The plan is to rehab their way east to Lawrence. The day I saw them interchange with CSX they recieved nine cars. It appears on Google Earth that track is pulled well before Lawrence?? Correct, the plan is to re-lay the track t...

Given the amount of necroposting going on recently, I should have checked the date.
Hazardous loads can use the Detroit-Windsor Truck Ferry.

Re: Port Huron Editorial: Safety rolls on archaic rail brakes

At least they did label it as an opinion piece. If they truly care, next week they will do an opinion piece of highway trucking. But the AAR really needs to take a look at it. That recent runaway in British Columbia where 3 died and the earlier one in Quebec where 47 died shows the shortcoming of th...

Re: new locomotive at the saginaw railway museum

Please allow a question. At this museum, there is a track that comes off a main track, and goes south a couple of blocks, and goes into an industrial area. You can clearly make out the former footprint of a large building that the tracks went to--or inside of. What did this used to be?? Saginaw Ste...

Here are the lines (bolded in red) that CN is looking to shed. Looks like just the Newberry Branch and White Pine Sub here in Michigan. https://scontent-ort2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/111271806_4149780898427813_8651362172301571389_o.jpg?_nc_cat=110&_nc_sid=ca434c&_nc_ohc=6JLyJ4rNcqoAX9aCFuH&_nc_ht=sc...

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale

I think the Algoma Central, all CN lines in the UP, and the 2 CN lines in Wisconsin that enter the UP are up for sale.

I don't think CN will put any lines in southeast Michigan up for sale.

Guess we will find out sooner than later.
