They also use the tower as a restroom
Hopefully that means they use a restroom in the tower

Strange way to replace windows but doing some upgrades to the tower does seem logical to what is going on there.

Deshler Tower

Looked at the the Deshler Railcam today.
Looks like all of the windows have recently been boarded over.
There are a couple of trailers next to it. They look like they might be the building moving type.
Is it being moved or maybe CSX is just discontinuing it as a worksite?

Re: Where Is It?

Date seems reasonable. Everything I can ID is a 1973 Chrysler product. Assembly plants were Windsor, Hamtramck, Lynch Road & Jefferson Ave, but I don't know where loading happened. I thought it looked a Cadillac or two in there. But Chryslers they will be and the description is partially correct at...

Re: Where Is It?

Pretty good AARR. I suspect it is Flat Rock too based on the location given. It is labeled July 1973 If you poke around the archives of the photographer, it seems he thought that Lasher and I-75 was the area around the Rouge complex. I have no idea where all of the loading ramps were back in that t...

Re: Where Is It?

Well the file says Chrysler cars being loaded at Lasher and !-75. Only 3 problems with that 1) I see more than Chrysler cars 2) It's spelled Lahser 3) Lahser doesn't come near I-75 The geo location is showing across the river in Windsor. I certainly hope the other material in the National Archives h...

Re: Conrail - New Customer

Will be interesting to see what rail service will actually occur.
Looks like it can hold 2 cars inside. The loading dock to the right is numbered 70.
Appears it will just be a cross-dock facility.
Owned by the same company that owned a large railroad station.

The pension board needed to sell because it could get a better return on investment elsewhere?

I don't know about Canada, but here in the USA, pension boards have a fiduciary duty to maximize return.
Even it it means harm to current employees.
That how some of those greenmail schemes get done.

Re: you Must Be Criminals

As a former CDL holder/school bus driver, I received similar training years ago courtesy of Homeland Insecurity. The good news is I got paid to sit through it. The bad news is it was a joke. Look at the number of people out there carrying weapons and who have no problems using them against people. T...

Re: CN SD70M-2 8952 in GTW Blue ?

:?: The Ontario Northland isn't owned by CN. The slug set isn't the correct green. At least part of the reasoning behind these various heritage fleets is trademark protection. If a company no longer uses a trademark, then it's possible another company will. Many of these are on older rolling stock t...

It’s legit. And from what I’ve read there are more on the way.
Hope they equip them with AEDs (Automated external defibrillators).
For use on the railfans :P

Re: CN SD70M-2 8952 in GTW Blue ?

Well it sure looks real. But since this is a CN locomotive, it should have the CN reporting mark added. A nit to pick for sure but pity the poor employee trying to locate GTW 8952. These type of paint schemes qualify as trademark protection. Is that a hint as to the real GTW blue/orange fleet longev...

Re: Finger Lakes Rail Road

Pan shots from 15 feet out? Keep the camera in one direction or the other.
But to go from oncoming to outgoing to oncoming? Kind of dizzy after that.

Besides the Finger Lakes and WLE, are there any other railroads out there where the owner/railfan is using a heritage type scheme?

Re: CN Holly Sub Improvements for Amtrak

I don't have recent info but the passenger speed in years past was 60. The removal 10 years ago or so of Yellow Cab would really be the only thing to improve average speed. It's straight rail now from MAL to Moterm. That excludes slow orders and there may have been some in the area which have recent...

CN 7600/600 are/were CN units, not GTW.
