Do you have a plow should the need arise?
Looks like AARR's Geeps weren't up to the task.

More likely cleaning the flangeway at the crossings. Packed ice and snow in there can and does derail trains.

Re: GLC GP38 incident

I'm amazed that 397 is being rebuilt. Seems like when a frame is bent that its usually the death knell of a locomotive. If you want a 4 axle "lower" horsepower engine it becomes practical. Where the frame is bent and how bad matters. It's possible to swap out the frame using one from a parts donor....

Re: Cryo-Trans and Lineage Logistics - Novi

Looking closely at Google Maps imagery it seems like the Lineage Loticstics building used to have a spur, it just got removed. Are you sure they're gonna be a new customer, or are they just returning to rail? Also from Google Maps I also found what looks to be another abandoned spur just east of th...

Re: Where/what is this railroad(East Terminal?)? Actual real question.

Industrial spurs don't need the right-of-way that is appropriate for a mainline. That last sentence is something I would consider as a hard time :P When storing cars you need to allow enough room to get that specific car out that is at the very end of the line. He doesn't get to use the tracks belon...

There is a picture in linked thread of the Delray spring switch and the signals that were to replace it

There is a luxurious restroom inside the hood but it also provides access into the cab from the front.

Their property is 100 feet wide but the rail is apparently east of the property centerline.

This gives an idea of the land involved. Using an aerial photo layer, it appears to be pretty accurate. It's the thin parcel in the middle.

D70611 going dead at Silver Lake Road crossing west of South Lyon after setting out a slew of cars in the Brighton siding again. Their time ran out at 11:00. C
So that's why they had cars parked across the Huron River Bridge in Island Lake State Recreation Area today.

If you look at the live ship cam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnnf04x6pXY
You can see they have installed bollards around the bases of the piers.
The signals are still turned sideways.
No hint of what type of barricade the railroad tracks will get.
There has been work done in the new bungalow.

Re: LGB momentary controller question

When doing my initial research I limited myself to just LGB when it applies to all sizes of model railroading. That limited the information greatly. Looking into rectifier diodes and other tangents this morning, I see other potential issues of the not good type. I also saw that what I want to do is ...

With the long distance Superliner equipped trains being cut back to 3 days a week and running with fewer cars...
The need to pull the Superliners off the PM doesn't seem to exist right now.
Is Amtrak parking Superliner cars when they need something more than the typical daily maintenance?

Thank you for that.
I didn't want to do that experiment with the LGB momentary control boxes.
They're not cheap.
Which is true of almost everything LGB wise.

LGB momentary controller question

I've got a question regarding my temporary on the floor LGB Christmas layout that got out of hand years ago :D I'm using LGB 51755 momentary control boxes for the switches. They use AC input (24V max). They have a diode(s)s that sends out 1/2 wave AC to the DC switch motor. That's correct 1/2 wave A...

Re: Where Is It?

Does anyone know more about these rails over by Shoemaker and St Jean Avenue? https://goo.gl/maps/P6UJPz9kycTAccAf8 This short spur just crossed St Jean Avenue but I was wondering if there were street car rails running across it. A 1936 topo maps show the spur and shows that St Jean was in fact a s...
