Re: First look at the new Siemens coaches
Not only all that but they would also have to be hauled in by flat car or by truck as they would not be interchangeable on the US rail system. That is not a small shipping bill to add on at the end of the order. There have been cases where equipment with non-standard couplers has been moved, either...

I've watched several of HinduCowGirl's videos. She is the train driver. Narration in real time is probably something that can't happen.

Re: First look at the new Siemens coaches
But you know that the Chargers are out there today with tightlock couplers hauling the various Amtrak cars. For that rumor to be true, California, Washington and the Midwest groups would all have to remove the current tightlock couplers that are on the Chargers. Then they would have to pay to retrof...

My guess is close, I have the right country. I noticed the tank. Wasn't much help with wild guessing the location.

Re: Amtrak Baggage Car
Should add that there were 2, IIRC, documented instances on the CN in Illinois where the grade crossing protection didn't activate. Plus there are other undocumented instances, some of them by lawyers. Imagine that. There were also rumors that dispatchers couldn't see the trains at times. That infor...

Re: Amtrak Baggage Car
Axle count. CN requires Wolverine Service Trains to have a minimum of 24 axles. CN requires the Blue Water to have a minimum of 30 axles. This is to ensure that the track circuits for grade crossings and track signals/CTC will recognize Amtrak trains. It is the result of a fatal accident in Charlott...

Re: CP 421 Upgrade
The paired bases will likely be for directional signage to the exit. Along with some fencing, that would help herd people along a hard surface and minimize potential cross country issues. The 3 larges bases are likely for some tower style lighting along the new platform.

justalurker 66 thank you for that picture of the crossing. It does appear that NS tried to keep all 3 tracks in the same plane. Otherwise it would have been a kidney-buster.

Re: Michigan Shortline Updates - December 2017
An agreement was reached effective December 1, 2017 granting track rights over CSX to Grand Elk. Part of that agreement included dismissal of the court case.
The decision is available at the STB.

Re: Rail cars blocking snowmobile trail in Alger County
I asked myself the same question. Also, I'm not able to locate Trail 422 or the location where the cars derailed :? How were the cars derailed by nearby loggers? Well the State publishes a map of snowmobile routes. Using that and the fantastic news story. My guess is https://goo.gl/maps/9vrZvBzLvk9...

Actually, snowmobiles are based on old sleds. Those old sleds predate railroad tracks.Stinger4me wrote:Railroaders may not be aware of this. Tracks predate snowmobiles and the trail they ride on. Just my $.02!

Re: Wye on GTW/CN?
The whole mention of the Pontiac Yard wye three me completely off. If this happened in Detroit, we're talking about Milwaukee Junction where they'd have wyed and where all of the movements would have taken place. Curious, though, that if they wyed the whole train at the junction (I'm assuming that ...
