Re: CSX Train Location Updates - Dec. 2022
65CA932C-3CF5-44CA-BD0C-3445971DE374.jpeg P370's crews are based out of GR. They work 371 to Chicago, lay over during the day, and work 371 home that evening. Given that 371 hasn't run for days, a fresh crew should have deadheaded in from GR this afternoon to run 370. So... if this is the truth... ...

8:21, P371-20 past the defect detector at 91.9. 16 axles, IDTX 4628 and three Horizon cars (1 cafe, 2 coach). A few minutes late on account of a slow signal at the bridge—the dispatcher was late to line it up after the bridge closed.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - Dec. 2022
P370 is going to be late. We were parked at Grand Crossing for a while. They said there’s a medical emergency on a train ahead. Guessing it was on 364 as he was at the head of the line. 364, 354, 370, and 30 all in a row.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - Nov. 2022
C800 is at 0.15 mph trying to get over the hump at Hilltop. Lead locomotive misbehaving. If he does make it and get across the bridge, it seems doubtful he will get out of Benton Harbor. And… 40 minutes later, he has made it to St. Joe Bridge. Supposed to stop and call mechanical once he gets to Be...

Re: Amtrak - 19 hour journey from Detroit to Chicago on 10/7/22
Does anyone know the locomotive numbers on the ill-fated Wolverines of Oct. 7? In particular, which one was on the 351 (first train to break down) and the 353 (rescue train)? Went searching online for photos. Didn't find any of the engines. Did find one of a toilet. You can thank me now for not pos...

Re: “National” PTC outage?
Sounds like it was a problem at Amtrak. PTC just being used as a scapegoat maybe? No, as I mentioned, the BNSF in Minnesota seemed to have an outage as well, affecting all trains. When I looked at the Amtrak map, the late trains seemed to be all on BNSF lines. So maybe Amtrak mis-reported a BNSF ou...

“National” PTC outage?
Earlier today, Amtrak put out a notice that due to a national PTC outage, all trains would incur delays. I am visiting family in Minnesota and heard the local BNSF dispatcher react with surprise and delight when the first train called him reporting functional PTC. Obviously, locomotive equipment is ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - Sept 2022
. Note: M327-07 cannot start building his train until today's M326-07 arrives Grand Rapids. Heard it's possible the M326-07 will be returning with the CSX engine #3194 (Spirit of our Law Enforcement unit). Why? Lack of motive power? Definitely, CSX seems to only keep exactly enough power in the Wyo...

Train radio pirates - Michigan?
I am having a memory problem… I recall reading a story about several individuals who were arrested a few years ago for using unlicensed radios to harass and try to talk to train crews. My memory is fuzzy, but I want to say it was on the AML. Google hasn’t helped me. Does anyone out there recall such...
