SB D735 at Middle River 1945. Looks like lead engine was 3029 with 3 more. Have never seen four engines on this job.

NB D735 passed Guernsey Farms Dairy on Novi Road at 1545. Engines 5439 and 5436. Did not get a good car count. Would estimate about 100.

Interesting that the new signal which is taller than the old one is closer to the freeway overpass making it more difficult to see the upper head when approaching it.

NB coal train crossed Seven Mile about 13:05. Did not see engines. Moving about 5 mph.

Saw it pass South Lyon. Didn't count it, but with a reported 215 cars, it would be the longest train I have seen in person anywhere.

D705 and D706 still have not settled into a predictable pattern. However, we have gotten some daylight movements out of them.

A general question for someone. I was reading today about FCA's new Jeep plant in Detroit. The aerial photo shows RR tracks adjacent to the facility, but not enough detail to show if any tracks actually enter the plant property itself. Would not be surprised if it will be 100% truck served.

Someone needs to visit Switzerland to watch how they handle a much greater volume of trains over a single track. If the trains are close to their schedules, there should be little congestion on this part of the line. If double track is needed anywhere, it is at Ann Arbor where trains are often held ...

NB D73509 passed 7 Mile about 1750 hours with 5244 leading. 8 or 9 loaded coil steel cars up front. Long train, no car count. Anyone have an idea where the steel would be destined? I've never seen coiled steel heading north on this line before.

I think you're referring to CP Lou on CR Shared Assets along John Kronk. About the only regular use of this would be the CP jobs that run to the CP intermodal site which uses a leased portion of CSX's Oak Yard along I-96. Other than that, someone else might know of something else.

The real performers were the EMD F40's. The GE's had some issues but held up fairly well. Now that the Siemens Chargers are arriving in quantity, we might actually miss the GE Genesis units. Do the Chargers make any noise other than the horns?

I noticed the Tower siding removed at CP25 when I visited on March 8, 2019 to photograph Q329. Removed some time prior to that date.
