Re: D&M Customers Around Alpena
Fletcher Paper always had a car or three on every 337 out of Flint when I was on it. Abitibi got vegetable oil in tank cars for particle board production and shipped loads out. Of course there were more then a few cars of cement for Boichot in Lansing we set out at Ensle along with the Grand Blanc J...

And I concur with RRGuy 100%. We never REALLY had a problem except when the CP Rail Canadian Military train was in town. The foamites were everywhere and Wyoming PD hustled them out of the yard.

Re: How not to be a rail fan!
Karen was the first name of the 'lady' that called the police on the black guy in New York Central Park for not having his dog properly restrained. Or maybe he called her out for not properly restraining her dog so SHE called the police saying something to the effect of "a black man is harassing me ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2021
Now there is some classy intelligent dispatching...have a one car train hold the main while a 40 some car train crawl thru the siding. And that doesn't even touch on the dimwit rule that if the upbound train (q326) had a rear DPU then the downbound train (Q327) MUST ALSO have a DPU on the rear. Yeah...

Unreleased handbrakes will be the cause of more then a few derailments and for no good reason other then some fools ruling by the FRA. Makes no sense at all.

Re: GLC GP38 incident
Unsafe emloyees..those, for the most part, don't hold up under scrutiny of the LRB. "Claim denied." But the union has to TRY or they get into a lawsuit from the employee over 'representation problems.' That's why some miscreants come before "The Mast" or 'on the carpet' as they say, time and time ag...

Or have a union behind you with a griever that knows what they are doing and take it to the National Labor Relations Board. I have watched things get overturned and awarded over a years back pay (and more) way too many times for stupid terminations that happened because a TM had a vendetta or had to...

Re: Algoma Central Railroad.
The ex SOO Line is not for sale across the UP. The ex DSS&A is for sale. Algoma Steel is a major shipper out of Soo, Ontario with product in and out. Should Algoma Steel go buns up that leaves Abitibi (or whomever it is now) as a Soo, Ontario customer. Pulp logs in and wood products out. Other then ...

Re: Algoma Central Railroad.
There was a MINE at the end of the branch. The steel mill in The Soo is on the waterfront, no need to transload then ship ore that far south.
Other thing is..TACONITE is what they use now, not ore. Taconite from the Minnesota Arrowhead AFAIK.

Re: CSX Train Locations Updates November 2020
Ogihara Plastics is indeed doing track work to hasten the locals switching work. They have improved car handling of late...you don't have to put cars right back where they came from, they have become much more flexable along those lines. Perhaps a three legged crew setup for the Detroit GRP run will...

Hey Lansing Railfan...I worked there (CSX) for 35 years and did the interchange MANY TIMES. We would meet their crew and do the swap. AIIRC the switches may have had DUAL LOCKS on them.
So been there done that. And you?

Instead of totally EFFING UP Howell for hours why doesn't GLC just pull south of the interchange at AnnPere and have CSX power go thru the interchange and hook on and GO WEST! We did it more then a few times when I was on the East Local out of Ensle in 1992...but wait...we DID THINGS in 1992 instead...

Those old DNR MUCC county maps were GREAT! I remember getting my hands on them at our friends cabin up near Kalkaska...Look at all the railroad tracks up here! And that was in the mid 60's. All gone now though. We just two track on them now.
