Re: Bellevue Terminal to be converted to flat-switching

NS put a ton of money building the Bellevue yard and the Hump on a very busy yard. Not sure what the thinking was to close the Hump. I know that is a bottleneck getting trains in the yard in the past but not rail traffic has slowed some. However NS like other large rail companies are hauling longer ...

Possible Railroad Strike

I have been reading about a possible railroad strike for months and it appears that something needs to get done here soon or there will be a strike. Question? Is the I&O and the CCET union or are short-line railroad workers non-union?

Re: NS Peavine talk

I was out that way two weeks ago. There are several cars in storage past the Plum Run stone company that have been sitting there in storage for months. Plum Run gravel company is doing pretty much business with the the CCET with a few trips per week. Before I left to go to Michigan last week NS was ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Paw looks like the new lumber tie company along the Peavine will supply the CCET with some good business. I was up there yesterday untreated ties sitting ready to be picked up a good amount of them. If I remember correctly NS had was doing business with this company in the early 90s when the railroa...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Maybe a dream from some railroads but not for the Peavine. Purnia is going to be their long time life line. The factory is behind schedule because of building materials are hard to find as well as labor. Now the projected opening is late summer. They will have several side tracks from the peavine on...

Re: Something with East Columbus Terminal Railway

I really like watching the ECTR video's as the updates are great. Plenty of information on a spur that was long dead that the father and son have started to put back to life. I would think in another year or two may be less they should have some storage business on the line. If you haven't watched o...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Took a look at Clare Yard from above on the Bluff today in Mariemont. Doing so work on the rails down there MOW crew is out NS on the west end of the old PRR. Looks like light stuff as the were only there just over an hour. Most of the siding is empty so I guess the CCET picked up some cars that wer...

Re: Deshler Station

The Asbestos cleanup inside the building is complete. Demolition papers will be filed later this week. As stated above the building will be taken down later this year no timetable has been established at this time. Feel it will be sometime next month. Won't take much to knock the building down and c...

Re: NS Peavine talk

The CCET has added two more engines to the Peavine Railroad from what I understand both are now in service getting ready from Purina that should be complete by late spring and more power for rock trains coming from Plum Run to Roundbottem Road at the Transloader.

Re: Deshler Station

It will be interesting to see if they gut it out and restore the station for historic reasons or just knock it down. It wouldn't take must to knock it down. I heard a year ago it was gong to be demolished so we shall see.

Re: NS Peavine talk

While I was up that way last week I talked to a older guy who was walking his dogs along the tracks. He lives not far from the tracks and must have lived there most of this life. He remembers passenger trains and the NW trains that ran on the tracks back in the 50s and 60s. He said I hope one day tr...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Currently it is a revenue producer on the stone. They haul maybe two times a week from the rock query from what I have heard on the scanner. The Purina Plant is moving on very quickly. The building is up roof is on working inside and out massive going to hire a good amount of people at the plant for...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Past Jay Bird or at the derail area, the tracks need some work. They may be good for two maybe three miles after that the ties are suspect. Really now heavy rail traffic has been on this part of the line for many many years everything out that way needs work. As you can see on Paw video there are wa...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Its been awhile since I posted so for the few on here that are interested here is the latest. The transloader is operational in Newtown. The CCET has been using it weekly hauling rock from Plum Run. Storage has been strong a week or so ago 96 or 97 cars went out east stored on the very end of the li...

Re: NS Peavine talk

True of late not many aggregated cars have been moved. The stone plant on Plum Run uses these cars so does Cohen Recyclable not sure what is going on there. Cohen only does a few cars a week or every two weeks. Grain will be a big mover now as the Ag will be shipping down plenty of grain in the next...

Re: NS Peavine talk

I see more news came out today the Ohio Rail Development Commission approved a grant for $150,000 to the CCET to provide rail service to the new Purina facility in Batavia. These funds will be used to help construct a 1,1000 foot connecting track, the last piece of rail infrastructure need to link t...

Re: Something with East Columbus Terminal Railway

I really like to watch his videos and how he wants to make something of his investment. Little at a time he has cleared the rail, shaped it up, bought equipment and now an engine. From what he said there is potential business coming to his rail so we shall see. He loves his coffee!
