Re: South Shore Double Track
According to the Double Track NWI newsletter of 3/1/24, they are running test trains now. I presume that this means all of the new signals and switches are active?

Are all of the new signals installed (mounted) yet, at least east of Dune Park?

It appears that PTC is in use between CP Taylor and 21st Street.

NS Signal Work At Goshen
From the ATCS list: Driving by the crossing at 9th street and College Ave (on the Marion branch in Goshen) I saw some work being done. There is a brand new shack there. There is also what looks like a new signal tower laying on the ground looking like it's about to be installed. I'm guessing maybe t...

Re: New Control Point CP Indy at MP B501.5
Thanks for the link. I will check this out in detail.
I tried to see if anything else was available, but I get blocked. Do you have any access to any other drawings?

Re: New Control Point CP Indy at MP B501.5
There is a new control point 116th Street at B509.20 on Main 1 with a single switch to the west, but the screen shows "no track" for the spur.

Re: Tolleston & High Line Questions
We have been seeing a new NS ATCS address pop up occasionally over the past few days and it could be for the NS view at Tolleston. Has anyone been by there in the past few days to note any NS signal crews working there?

Re: New Control Point CP Indy at MP B501.5
I was just playing back some logs and I noticed that as soon as the TK's drop out for EB moves, the approach blocks at N State Line come on, so I am going to tie the east approach blocks at Burnham to AWA and BWA at N State Line. Thanks for all of the help with decoding. I will hopefully upload a ne...

Re: New Control Point CP Indy at MP B501.5
Thanks for the details. What is confusing to me is that a friend who had view-only access to the NS screen has watched the CSSB trains go through and they show the "normal" progress with approach indications on both sides as well as the TK (OS) section.

Re: New Control Point CP Indy at MP B501.5
I have posted the updated kit for the NS Chicago District, but I still have not been able to figure out the data in terms of ATCS handling, as the bit patterns are not normal for train movements. If anyone has suggestions, I would like to see them. Has anyone been by 110th Street recently? I wonder ...

Re: NS Kankakee work
One would think that an error like that would have been caught at drawing check time or at least by the maintainers. It could be that they are indeed trying to do things on the cheap (software is free, as they say). To me, if there were separate signals, they would have been 6 and 8, as the numbers ...

Re: NS Kankakee work
There should be three separate individual signal/stop pairs based on the drawing - 4, 6, and 8. One would think that 2E and 2N would each have their own Clear bit with a shared Stop bit. I suppose that one could program the 6 signals to both show Clear from a single bit if the routes didn't conflict...

Re: IHB Changes At Gibson
Only 7 days to complete the cutover. It does look like NS is not getting (or else is ignoring) the new #6 switch and the approach block on #5 siding.

Re: IHB Changes At Gibson
Right - until further notice means forever. BNSF is also quick (one day normally); I am spoiled too.
I think I have most of the patterns figured out, but I just need them to "get out of the way".

Re: IHB Changes At Gibson
IHB standard practice (what do they have, only 2 maintainers for testing?). It does look like the NS side is done and the IHB TK pattern is the same as before. The lock bit for the new #6 switch (to the #5 siding) is active, but not the Normal or Reverse bits (at least as of overnight logs).
