At the late 70s/early 80s, the only customers on the DT&I/N&W north of the PC/LCRC crossing in Adrian were:
*Fisher Body (Tecumseh)
*Cutler-Dickison Company (Adrian)
There may have been a customer between the PC/LCRC crossing and the N&W main line, but I don't know for sure.

Re: DT&I and Conrail's formation.
You have to remember that the DT&I didn't run north of the Fisher Body plant into Tecumseh much past '68 or '69. By the time Conrail came to be this part of the line was overgrown and unused. There were also supposedly issues with the many trestles on the DT&I line north of Adrian. This wasn't reall...

N&W served the Fisher Body/Inland Guide plant at Tecumseh until 1983.

The segment to Brooklyn was to serve customers there (a lumber yard and perhaps something else). The local came off the CN from Cement City.

Re: NYC, Ypsilanti to Hillsdale line (1950s)
There was also a segment retained between Brooklyn and Cement City, being serviced from the Cincinnati Northern line.
I can remember the railroad crossing on M-50 as a kid. It must have come out circa 1970.

Re: Tecumseh Products
The DT&I last came into Tecumseh ca. 1969. After that they were only coming as far north as the Fisher Body plant. The tracks, however, remained intact into the mid-80s. For some more information on the DT&I in Tecumseh, have a look at these two articles: http://tecumsehjunction.com/2017/01/04/the-d...

Re: Tecumseh Products
There were at least two separate spurs into Tecumseh Products. The first left the main line south of Russell Road and curved into a center section of the complex. I remember seeing 50' boxcars being switched in here in the very early 70s. After that, this spur was unused. I suspect the spur was used...

This was called the "Bankers Cutoff".

Re: Adrian & Clinton Branches
To answer some of these questions: 1. I don't believe "Stubbies" received any 86-footers; photos show 50-footers. 2. The spur that crossed Michigan Street served the Page Woven Wire Fence Company according to the 1916 Sanborn map. 3. The DT&I line into Tecumseh was sold in the late 1970s to N&W, but...

Tecumseh slide show & historical presentation, 10 April
On Tuesday, 10 April, the Tecumseh Area Historical Society will be hosting local rail historian Ed Hodges, who will be making a presentation and slide show on the history of the railroads in Tecumseh. Ed has an extensive collection of slides of the Clinton line taken through the 70s and early 80s, a...

Re: DT&I Tecumseh branch questions
Something else—I've "heard", that when the Fisher Body plant first opened in 1965, traffic to/from the plant was interchanged with the NYC at Tecumseh for some time, due to the poor condition of the trestles on the DT&I between the plant and Adrian. As a small child (I was born in '65), I can rememb...

Re: DT&I Tecumseh branch questions
Fisher Body in Tecumseh was an upholstery trim plant. My dad worked there from the time it opened in 1965 until the time it was closed. They cut and sewed upholstery for car seats, side panels, dashboards. I'm not entirely clear how loads/empties worked at the plant, as there was also a large truck ...

Re: DT&I - Penn Central Interchange in Adrian MI (1970's)
DT&I didn't venture into Tecumseh itself after about 1968-70.
My friend in Tecumseh also says that the Hayden Mill was pretty much winding down operations in the early 70s, and not doing anything by rail. The whole complex burned in a spectacular fire in the mid 70s.

Re: DT&I - Penn Central Interchange in Adrian MI (1970's)
Thank you for posting the scan. Most interesting. It appears most of the cars on the list were given to the N&W at Napoleon (507 code). I'm also surprised there are no cars for the Fisher Body plant near Tecumseh. I've asked around, and haven't come up with any answers about the covered hoppers of w...

Re: DT&I - Penn Central Interchange in Adrian MI (1970's)
By the 1970s, the former line to Monroe had been cut back to Ida, and was the PC's "Ida Branch". So I don't think Monroe is the answer to this question. This is a long-shot, but possible: in Tecumseh there was the Hayden Milling Co., which was a joint NYC/PC—DT&I customer. By the early 70s, the DT&I...

We looked at them for the SMRS back in the early 80s. They were in pretty bad shape then. If I remember correctly, one was in the GTW black/white "modern" scheme and the other in the earlier olive and black scheme.
