Re: CSX North of Monon Q's
Busy day on the Monon today. Saw a northbound heading through Brookston, and there may have been a southbound waiting to proceed there. There also appeared to be a northbound beyond 421 in Monon. And north of town (south of Monon Connection) two locomotives facing south (seemed parked there) had 3 ...

E&W to rebuild connection with former GT in Mishawaka
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/A4nNoDACq2DbFK5w/? Sounds like the E&W in Elkhart is planning on relaying/rebuilding around 5 miles of track to connect into the CN so that way they can have access to not just NS. Curious how this will affect them long term and if this means they have something lin...

D&M Steam Roster Help
Anyone have a good source for a D&M steam roster? Their diesels are well known but the steam seems to fly under the radar.

Is the roof from the John Engler going to be put over the 1395 in some way? Also wondering if the headlight will get mounted.

Re: Switch removed in Gaylord
Could've needed the switch elsewhere. If you have the parts on hand and they aren't being used then why not?joeyuboats wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 5:33 pmIf there is no need to go there, or north of M32, then why remove the switch?? Wait a while and if no need to keep it -- then remove the whole stretch of track.

Re: The return of gypsum near Alabaster for Lake State.
If it is the original branchline that went south at Alabaster Junction, that was once a separate railroad in the 1930's known as the Erie & Michigan Railway and Navigation Company. The smallest railroad with the longest name. They ran ex-D&M steamers and I think went into Tawas City Yard with gypsu...

Re: Switch removed in Gaylord
There were a pair of drilling sand customers back there. The last one received service around 2009 / 2010 Northern Energy, just south of M32, was getting four to five cars of lubricants a month but I here they haven't received anything in 2024 so LSRC may get its wish after all and abandon the trac...

Re: CN Lake Orion Sub - The end finally???
Ok guys, I have the scoop from my own two eyes. At about 5:30pm today, I exited from Northbound I-75 and took Josyln Rd Southbound to Great Lakes Crossing drive where track crosses. There is no evidence of any activity there at all and the track is overgrown in both directions. I then took Baldwin ...

Switch removed in Gaylord
Sounds like the switch for the spur that goes to Builders First Source in Gaylord has been pulled. This was the last spur left before the current EOT in town on the former NYC Mackinaw Division. When was the last time that this customer saw any service? Looks like it runs through another property to...

What became of the Sunfield Alco after that elevator stopped doing business? Can't even find history on the locomotive much less where it was before or after its time in Sunfield. Does it exist today?

Any word on 326? They seem to be starting later these days. Yep - hard to catch 326 in the light these days. Hope they start running a bit earlier. I believe and I don’t want to assume, M326 departure time depends on crew availability, available power and how packed the NS Chicago Line Since...

Re: Canadian National Iron Range
It was my understanding the BN units were to repay back horsepower hours to BNSF, but considering they bought back a bunch of GP38AC's that THEY sold during EHH's reign I'm not surprised. Seems like most of the leased geeps are being used in Canada. Would think they'd have gotten some bigger power ...
