Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage

I've been racking my brain here, but maybe someone can help jog my memory. I seem to remember someone reminiscing about working at Carleton Tower back in the 1970s; while they mostly spoke of C&O and DT&I operations there, they did mention a bit about PRR/PC as well. I seem to remember them mentioni...

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage

I did some research and answered my own question, and it corroborates what JG recalls. Guardian Glass opened their Carleton float glass plant in late 1970 and had a couple expansions within the first few years. I wonder if Penn Central was excited to have a busy new customer ($$$) at that time or i...

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Trackage

What CR job works down the Lincoln 2ndary to service the Ford Parts complex at Sibley and Guardian Glass near Carleton? Guardian is a trailing point switch for northbound moves, so does the local go all the way into Carleton, run around their train in one of the sidings south of the diamond on the ...

Re: CSX Derailment

Starting about 600 this morning, I heard a couple of trains making their way up the CSX Saginaw Sub. Never did see or hear anything on the Lincoln Secondary.

Re: CSX Derailment

Noted nothing along the Lincoln Secondary at all today. I work relatively close to that line, but heard and saw nothing there today.

What appeared to be an I150 headed up the Lincoln Secondary today, 27 January. He was headed by CSX 978, and had a string of container loads behind him. He was at the King Road crossing at 14:04 EST.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - August 2022

Today's I-150 went up the Lincoln Secondary, 6 August 2022. I actually was close enough to make out the details, for once! He got to the Inkster Road crossing at 12.44, and was headed by BN 8155 and CSX 3339. Fair amount of container loads and stacks. Cleared at 12.45.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - August 2022

A fairly decent-sized I-150 headed up the Secondary today, 1 August. Headed by a UP locomotive and a BNSF pumpkin; couldn't catch the numbers from where I was. He hit the Inkster Road crossing at 13:18, and cleared by 13:22. LONG string of double-stacks.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2022

Old now, but it seemed to be a busy afternoon on the Secondary today. I approached the Inkster Road crossing at 13:48 to see the Conrail local headed back north from the glass plant; two NS locomotives, fourteen covered hoppers, and one loaded center beam flat. THEN, at 14:37, I heard what I assume ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2022

A little late, but what looked like an I-150 went up the Lincoln Secondary today, 13 July. He went through the Inkster Road crossing at 13:35 EDT. Looked like he was headed by CSX 7021 (I was looking in the mirror, so I was unable to confirm for certain that was the engine number. I was doing my rou...

What’s an FM Dx

I mostly go after Tropospheric and Sporadic E propagation, both of which are talked about in that article. Also, I believe that this is what enables you to sometimes hear scanner transmissions from over a hundred miles at times.

Re: New threat to SMRS?—"Project Phoenix"

Wacker Chemical between the old diamond and Tecumseh seems like they could become a legitimate customer if rail service was restored I've been racking my brain here, but the older I get, the harder it becomes to remember things. That being said, it seems to me as if Wacker may have been a customer ...

Re: Vote - Amtrak location and consecutive posts

Here's how we do it at the FM DX boards. We start a new thread for a new DX opening, UNLESS new openings are less than a couple of hours apart. (I usually go about two hours.) Also, I've had times where I've worked multiple clouds at different QTEs. With this scenario, we just keep adding to the exi...

Re: New threat to SMRS?—"Project Phoenix"

One thing that caught my eye in that above article was Mr Miller wanting to restore passenger service to Clinton, Blissfield, and Adrian. I wonder how he proposes to do that; after all, the diamond at Raisin Center was pulled out years ago, and I highly doubt NS would be interested in having it rest...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - April 2022

Old news now, but I150 went up the Lincoln Secondary today, 22 April 2022. He was led by CSX 3123. A string of double-stacks. Hit Inkster Road crossing at 14.00 EDT, and cleared about a minute later. Today was my last day on the route, so I was glad to see something going up that way. While my new r...

Re: 2022 Train Shows

Do they still have that show at the MBT Expo Center at the Monroe County Fairgrounds? I remember that one was usually a fair, sometimes good show that I almost always enjoyed going to. That show hasn't been held for a long time, now. At least five years, I think. It was what was left of the old Mau...
