Re: CSX Train Location Updates - January 2021
At 14:00 EST...a short train led by a CSX engine headed up the Lincoln Secondary, at the Inkster Road crossing. Consisted of a CSX engine, one Railbox, and a short string of intermodal containers. Seeing him answered a question that I'd had --- if they were still using that line for through trains. ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: August, 2020.
Q131-29 has been seen crossing Eureka and Racho Roads in Taylor at 1515. Two YN3B widecabs were leading, I think 27 was one of them. I saw him too, only I was at Inkster Road when he passed by a few minutes later. Didn't think to look at the time, as I was quite busy at the time. But, I was doing m...

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale
Can't comment on the others, as I have no idea about any of them, but I agree with penn central; I definitely see the Flat Rock Sub going to I&O. On the other hand, would I&O actually want the costs of upkeep and maintenance on that line? Still, I can picture CN desiring to divest that line; once up...

Good to see Q-131 and Q-132 running again. Past couple of months I haven't seen anything along the Lincoln Secondary, except for the local to the glass plant.

Re: Conrail Train Location Updates 2020
A little late, but from the Lincoln Secondary:
Glass Man headed south, crossed Inkster Road about 1100 EDT on Thursday 16 April. Didn't see what he had, but did hear it passing by. Went back north about twenty minutes to half an hour later with one center beam and one covered hopper.

Re: Chessie System meets Norfolk Southern Pictures?
Perhaps he's thinking of some pic or other from Romulus; there's a CSX/Norfolk Southern diamond there.
Back in the day, they were Chessie and N&W. Romulus is the only place I can think of in Michigan where the two cross(ed.)

Re: Lincoln Secondary
I do have one other question about that line. Does anyone know where the signals were located on that line before the Conrail split? I remember one at Reeck Road and another at Racho Road (Both for Pennford.) Then the actual signals at Pennford. Seems like there was one near Grix Road, as I kind of ...

Re: Lincoln Secondary
Years ago, I was talking with somebody who said that the through trains on the Secondary ceased around 1982 or so. Following are some of my own observations... In 1991, I learned to drive, and my instructor had me driving around Carleton, which meant going up and down Grafton Road. By 1991, the line...

Take a look at the car at 1:52 -- the second to last car on the train, to be exact. The placard says HOT 3257, and the side of the car says "HOT ASPHALT."
Since afleetcommand mentioned that Sute-Cote has an asphalt plant, I'd say that's where they were going.

Does anyone know when the tunnel will be back online? I would like to see reroutes on the Holly sub tomorrow and Tuesday after work. I am working at BAE Systems now in Sterling Heights, have a buyer for our home here in Richland, and are probably moving to Linden as we are interested in a new build...

Re: CSX employment
I don't remember the details anymore but the GDLK system and the CSX system said it wasn't their car and automatically generated a WO and returned it back to the other. I'm tracing it for the customer watching the ping pong across town. Finally Doc got it to go to the GR Same baloney goes on in the...

For the Clinton Branch, you might try contacting the Southern Michigan Railway Society; they likely have a lot of the information that you desire about that branch.

Re: Carleton observations
Went back on Wednesday 13 February. This time I noted that they seemed to be building new signal towers on the CSX, south of the diamond; to me, it looks like they're putting in those overhead signals there. Seems like they just replaced the signals on the CSX not too long ago. The new signals on th...

Carleton observations
Yesterday, I went to Carleton. As I crossed the railroad in town, I noted something. Seems like CN is getting ready to replace the signals at the diamond finally; I saw new signals next to the old ones; the new ones were turned to the side. They must have just put those up, as I hadn't seen them whe...

Question about the Lincoln Secondary
Yesterday (2 January 2019,) I saw the Glass Man headed south past Inkster Road at about 1415 EST. I noted quite a few covered hoppers. In addition, I also saw a few center beam lumber cars mixed in. A couple of weeks ago, I'd seen him pass by and I saw a center beam car that time too; I didn't post ...

You might try finding out when the next Cable Commission meeting is, and asking them. They might know of someone who'd know about it, or perhaps even know who the production crew was. That may be your only bet; I used to work in public access as a video tech student in high school (Volunteer -- but ...

Re: Crain's Article Michigan Central Station
Looks like yet another speculative rumor being fueled by the media -- which will end up going nowhere. Similar to the McLouth Steel property in Riverview. Honestly, I can't see anyone renovating it; it's in such bad shape, I think it would cost way more to renovate it than it would to tear it down a...
