Re: Dundee Cement Covered Hoppers
The attached photo (in slide format) is for sale on ebay at the moment, available here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/373036818140. Interesting that it's not a UTLX car, but CRDX, as was the Northern Michigan Railroad Club's 2018 car.

Are those intentional "derails" in the third photo? Or leftover switches from an earlier era?

Re: Freight trains to be rolling between Ypsi and Jackson
There are a few steel suppliers located between Willow Run/Wayne that currently get coil cars from 60/63T through Dearborn, unless something new is opening up, these must be what they're referring to. Maybe cheaper to go through Jackson? Unless they're running the other way, cars from 60/63T to be s...

Re: Greenfield Village Steam Locomotive Schedule
The three engines are usually rotated after operating about 3 weeks each. There are tons of exceptions to this, such as special occasions (Memorial Day, Old Baseball Games, Old Car Festival, etc.) where two engines will be placed into service. The summer it was completed, #7 ran for a week, then bro...

Re: ADBF & AA Grain Trains
I'm no AA expert like some users on this forum, but from what I gathered living in Ann Arbor during college, the AA usually runs its through freight daily in the mornings (7-8am) and in the evenings (anywhere from 6-11pm). Now in fall/winter, that means it comes almost always in the dark. Their thru...

Re: Grain Season and cool Grain Cars
I saw multiple ex-AA hoppers, an ex-Rock and an ex-D&H hopper all on a single GLC/AA train through Ann Arbor last year. If I were looking for any road with fallen flags, that would be my bet!

Re: GTW Boxcars in Onaway
As of the end of February, these cars were still there. Both still sit on rails, though I have no idea how far the rails go, as the further boxcar was completely tangled in trees and I didn't want to make too big a ruckus while trespassing (though I found them by riding along the public trail). I th...

This is something worth photographing!!!! Do you know when they are "Dumping" ballast on the "Michigan Line?" What paint scheme are these two "Classic" locos in?[/color] :?: How much longer will they stay here working? :?: I remember seeing them a couple weeks ago, if I remember right, it looked ju...

Re: This Is Your First Warning: Block QLine Tracks...
During QLine tests over the past few months, there has been a big issue with many people parking on the tracks. I'm assuming that to try to offset this problem when it goes into regular service they're issuing the warning.hoborich wrote:I've never known parking enforcement to give warnings. As Ypsi said, today's consist was 1 baggage, 3 Amfleet coaches, 1 Amfleet cafe, and 2 P42's. Here's the baggage car on today's 355, at Dearborn: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18796/CAM00077.jpg Two coaches had a cool Illinois High-Speed Rail car pool logo: http://railroadfan.com/gal...

Re: New Coach at the Southern Michigan Railroad!
Nice looking car, I'm glad that you guys are taking the time to save this unique piece of NYC history! I really love the small PC logo, that's something that has generally been covered up and forgotten in the course of railroad restorations so far.

I recall there being quite a few boxcars in White Pine last time I was in Ontonagon, in 2013 or so. But that was a long time ago.

Is this site helpful at all? It has a large collection of IATR boxcar photos, and several of 4300-series boxes:

Re: MI Line Coil Trains, 1999
Never stopped at Lantz steel. Either the "old plant ( processing ) off the Sterling secondary" or the "new plant ( warehousing/storage ) off the passing track". Lantz steel was switched by the Mound road crews. Cars were then moved from Mound road yard to North yard. The old plant held 5 cars (insi...

This thread ( http://www.railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29708&view=unread ) mentions that CR train ELDN (which thread at http://railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=28186 mentions is supposedly the same train as IHDN, depending on its destination) stopped at Lantz Steel near Mound Rd...

Re: MI Line Coil Trains, 1999
IHDL ran on the Michigan Line in the early 90’ and I think it was actually INDJ or perhaps INDN depending on whether it terminated at Junction Yard (Livernois) or North Yard. It originated on the IHB and made several pick ups in Chicago with the final one at Burns Harbor. It had a set out in Jackso...

MI Line Coil Trains, 1999
Does anyone have a video of, or at least remember seeing, Conrail IHDL traverse the Michigan Line in the late 90's, particularly right before/after the takeover in 1999? At another page on this site (I forget where) it was mentioned that this train was a manifest coil/steel train, which I assumed wa...
