Re: New Hollow Yard, Lansing
Edit: Yes, there was an overpass on Logan Street, by then, but it wouldn't be for another 10 years that you got the angled one-way bridge for the southbound lanes to the west. I was able to find some answers from another local railfan. Apparently, "Old" Hollow Yard wasn't built as a yard, per se, ra...

Re: Train derailment in Detroit
Forgive me as I don't know any of the movements, here, but then why would this delay Amtrak and why was it at Scotten?

Re: Train derailment in Detroit
It appears this happened on the Conrail bridge at Scotten. Edit: Someone saying this is CN 280? Where was this train going or coming from, then?

New Hollow Yard, Lansing
Does anyone have any old maps or more specifically, diagrams, showing the track layout of New Hollow Yard in Lansing at its greatest extent? Discussions on another part of the forum and in correspondance I've had, here, describe a layout quite a bit different than it was, today, particularly where i...

Re: JAIL Marketing
If the old plant sites in Lansing could be redeveloped into something using Rail, JAIL could be in a great position to benefit. And therein lies the rub. The city and region have generally been very disinterested in the redevelopment for these sites for whatever reason, wich is kind of amazing give...

Re: West Detroit Connection Project
Old rail, but I just realized I don't have a clear view of the movements/operations at for Amtrak at West Detroit prior to this project. Where exactly was the choke point prior to the construction of the connection rail? Was it at CP-West Detroit, itself, or at CP-Scotten? CP-Bay City is actually ea...

Re: Amtrak - 19 hour journey from Detroit to Chicago on 10/7/22
If this was an equipment issue, why are we even talking about what MDOT should or shouldn't have been doing? Does MDOT own the Chargers; are they legally liable for their usage? I guess it might be mildly interesting to discuss what kind of punitive measure MDOT could legally apply to Amtrak if tha...

Re: Amtrak - 19 hour journey from Detroit to Chicago on 10/7/22
Before some of the more recent corridor improvements, this was much more common. And how many of them are running the Siemens Chargers? All of the trains use the Chargers now. Unless a rare day and a P42 becomes the new "heritage unit". Does "This" refer to mechanical issues? Seems more common now ...

Re: Amtrak - 19 hour journey from Detroit to Chicago on 10/7/22
Before some of the more recent corridor improvements, this was much more common. But experiencing even one of these will scare off a new rider. My mom has vowed never to take the train to Chicago, again, after here last experience with an interminable delay some years back. BTW, how many locomotives...

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership
Random question about their JAIL services, but they've said forever on the website that they offer cross docking, transloading & team tracks. Where are any of these services located along the line, particularly the cross docking & team tracks? Do they mean they provide cross docking services indire...

Re: Diamond Junction/Eagle Mills Crossing
Where the current junction is, what was the route of the Soo Line? I'm asking, because you can't make it out on the map, any longer. Obviously, it ran south of the LS&I mainline, but what did the route look like? Old maps seem to show that it paralleled the LS&I west to maybe about the wye, but then...

Re: Diamond Junction/Eagle Mills Crossing
Wow, quite a mess of lines in the region decades ago! More than today.Okay, so this Soo Line looks to have connected maybe the mines with the lower harbor (and regions west of here), while LS&I connected the mines to the upper harbor. For someone who knows the area, it'd be interesting to make a dia...

Thank you. What did this line connect? I'm assuming something to the dock, but that's just a guess.

Diamond Junction/Eagle Mills Crossing
Does anyone have any old maps showing the crossing at Eagle Mills between the Soo Line and LS&I's line? I'm interested particularly in the section west-southwest of their and what it connected? Seems it exist as a crossing until 1986 when it became a junction (Diamond).

Re: UP Rail Map?
Question, I noticed on some lines, they are the same color, but you get different names without knowing where the division is. For instance, there is CN Patridge but just a little further down the line it changes to CN Partridge to Little Lake. Are these different lines?

UP Rail Map?
Does anyone know where I can find a good and up-to-date rail map of the Upper Peninsula, preferably something with an inset showing the area around Ishpeming and Negaunee? I know the area around there is quite confusing as to who owns what and where the changes happen.

Re: 110mph for Kzoo-Albion, restoring another Wolverine round trip
Is there new Michigan Line thread on here? I'm curious if any work is currently being done between Jackson and Ypsi. I can never find a place that compiles what's all going on on MDOT's website.
