Lansing Train Show 2016
In case anyone wasn't aware, or forgot, the Lansing show is this Sunday, Nov. 13th. They usually have a pretty good selection, but it's a popular show, so if you don't show up early, things end up being pretty picked over.
Edit: show goes from 10-4.

"You wouldn't want to look out the back of your home and see tanker cars."
Well then maybe you shouldn't buy a house that sits adjacent to some tracks, eh?

Re: Interlochen
A trail to possibly look into that's also in the area is the trail from Frankfort through Elberta, Benzonia, and back south into thompsonville. I rode a portion of it this summer, and it's a neat ride or walk, and its 22 miles long.

http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/18749/thumb_image%7E4.jpg What the heck, I'll post one. It's a little fuzzy though, it was taken on a cell phone, and severely cropped 8) Edit: if it's too small to see in the post, it's bigger in the gallery. Admin edit: fixed the link to a bigger pic:

Re: Update on Henry Michigan
It did. I have relatives who own property that contains a section of right of way. In fact, before the line was removed, someone had a house delivered by rail and built it not far from the right of way, just down the road.AARR wrote: IIRC that went to Harrison and was removed 50-60 years ago. Maybe longer.

Re: Update on Henry Michigan
Metal detectors are a great hobby. Good luck on your search! I have a metal detector as well, and plan to comb the old branch line north of Clare on private land for some goodies. For non-railroad-related areas to search, silver lake and other beaches along Lake Michigan are great areas to look. Bea...

Re: Passenger rail
Here is something that I think would be really cool, although I have given little thought to the logistics --- a passenger train from Grand Rapids to downtown Detroit to coincide with sporting and other events. With Comerica Park and Ford Field already next to each other, and the Red Wings new stad...

'Rare' rolling stock stories
Thought i'd start a thread for sharing memorable sightings over the years- whether it be old, new, rare or just out of place. Feel free to add pictures if you'd like. To start, I'll share a couple of mine: In May 2009, i was on a trip to DC, I glimpsed an Acela train going about 130 through Baltimor...

Re: GLC Passenger Train - fall colors
You know, there's a way to disagree with someone without being hateful or disrespectful. I have been watching this thread, and just because someone isn't as experienced or as knowledgeable as you in some areas, doesn't mean you have to shoot them down if they give some input. I see people make valid...

I don't believe HESR owns into Owosso. GLC owns that. HESR branches off northeast through Lennon and Flushing.
