Re: RJ Corman/St. Mary's, New Bremen etc

Thanks. Looked pretty sporatic from St. Marys south and based on the wiki list, there's no business down there. Its a shame that Crown in New Bremen doesn't use rail service on that line. I wonder how aggressive RJ Corman is at working to recruit new transload or rail business in general for these W...

RJ Corman/St. Mary's, New Bremen etc

I've had several meetings this year in the New Bremen area and have explored a little bit of the RJ Corman line in the area. Unfortunately, I haven't caught any activity on this line. Can anyone give me some info on the customers on this line and when RJC typically operates?

Re: East Palestine, Ohio Major NS Derailment

Again the NIMBY's and media fail to recognize that the Michigan facilities are designed to and continue to take hazardous waste from a wide geographical area. I have a trucker friend from PA that often runs east coast haz mat to those facilities on a regular basis. Dump trailer lined with plastic at...

No idea. I'm not down there enough to know. I was just fortunate to catch them this time.

UP restrictions

Wow, wonder why customers would turn away from rail as a legitimate freight option? Grrrrr.

Deshler tower

In watching the live feed from Deshler, I see the tower lights on through the night. I thought it was in use only for MOW purposes. If so, why the second story lights?

NS wabash line rail replacement

Progress being made today on the NS rail replacement between Montpelier, OH and Detroit. Ribbon rail has been laid out next to the active track for a couple of weeks. Today, tie plates and spikes were laid out and the Herzog train was working.

JAIL traffic

I only catch bits and pieces about this line and only very infrequently catch a train there. Is the coil steel place in Holt still the primary customer?

Just for the record, the tracks don't go through Morenci but instead are north of town. NS tracks, CP trackage rights.

GLC train makeup

In poking around Google Earth tonight, I discovered a GLC northbound train just south of McBain in the imagery. It shows two units, a couple of freight cars and then another set of units and the rest of the train. Is this typical GLC train makeup and, if so, why? Bridge restrictions?

Re: Coal Trains Going BYE BYE in Michigan

How about the mercury, arsenic, sulfur...all of the pollutants that come from the burning of coal that others downwind must deal with. As much as we like to watch coal trains it is selfish and unjust to ignore the people who will be negatily affected by the generation of electricity. BUT that also ...

Re: USDA Michigan forecast

The USDA is smoking something with all three being down by those amounts. I guess they think we are going to sit here, leave the tractor in the shed and leave those acres idle all year? No way. As far as the potash business, it still takes 0.25# of potash per bushel of corn and 1.4# per bushel of be...
