Re: Go Go Squeeze email stating rail service starting

I decided to look into the location of the distribution centers. Currently, all I can find is a single location, in Bollingbrook, Il listed as a distribution center for GoGoSqueez's parent company in the US. They list jobs in four locations, Nampa, ID, TC, Michigan, Lockport, Il, and New York, NY. L...

GLC 383

GLC 383 has been seen on the road. There was a photo of a dark blue 383 with a small GLC logo on the side running on ONTN yesterday. 383 is one of the former MRL SD-35's, although I'm not sure which one.

PM 18 Found

This summer, PM 18, at the time the largest car ferry on the Great Lakes sank while crossing Lake Michigan. The wreck was finally found in July after almost 110 years since it sank. The crew famously tried pushing cars out of the ship to lessen the weight, but it was futile. Despite cutting loose 5 ...

Petoskey Question

I just have a question regarding the operations to Petoskey on the GLC (From the Google Maps view) Along Clarion Ave there is a siding that contains a string of covered hoppers. I assume these are transloaded at this location, as I don't think the adjacent businesses are getting plastic pellets of a...

Did CP official rescind their trackage rights over CSX or are they just unused?

Re: Ann arbor Railroad

With that said, per the Facebook group, they were seen working Willis Rd (Urania Siding) and through Milan this morning, after working Osmer this morning. The AA will run where they need to when they need to. RS101 (the run north to Osmer), normally is an overnight though and normally they stay in T...

Re: CN / GTW lines in Pontiac

Here's a couple maps I've found that give an overview of the Pontiac area in general during 1947: http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/160509/Pontiac+Township++Auburn+Heights++Lake+Angelus/Oakland+County+1947/Michigan/ http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/160467/Bloomfield+Township++Birmingham+...

Re: CN / GTW lines in Pontiac

So, I'm trying to figure out what each of the lines is / was in Pontiac and the surrounding area. The easiest one is the Holly Subdivision, which still exists and is the main track running through Pontiac. Starting on the south end of town, in the vicinity of Brush and Linfere St there was a line th...

Re: GLC Acquiring SD35's?

I would have assumed that MRL and GLC would know the route they are to travel, and make sure that these locos are compliant for the entire trip. If something were to be red flagged somewhere---either at interchange, or remote location, either GLC or the host RR would correct it. My simple point----...

Speaking of the lines in Pontiac, how many customers does CN still have in Pontiac?

Re: If the Rails Were Still There

There is one other, much more far fetched railroad I would have. The Elberta and Lake Michigan. This railroad would have spent millions of dollars to turn the car ferry operation on its head. Specially built for the railroad would be several 1000's foot car hauler ships. These ships would be special...

Re: If the Rails Were Still There

Wixom, South Lyon and Jackson - operates the ex-GTW Jackson subdivision. Line's eastern end if at M-5. A few occasional customers remain on this end of the line who get a couple carloads per year of product. These include Elsey Construction, ASA Building Supply, Great Lakes Powder Coating and Armaly...

Any up-date on these SD35's? Have they made it to Battle Creek yet?
Post I saw this morning, somewhere, says they are in BRC Clearing, awaiting transfer to CN. I would guess they end up in BC within the next couple days, and Durand by early next week.

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale

The line in Ontario that I could see spun off would be the line to Thunder Bay. Other than that I dont know if there is the line to North Bay. I dont see any other lines that stand out. One question is the short segment they show in Windsor. Would they divest this? What customers do they serve in Wi...

Heard that, but at the same time, heard they just got picked up from MRL on Thursday, so it is highly unlikely they are in BC yet, unless BC means British Columbia.

Steel Industry socks, layoffs

The steel industry sucks right now. As a result Keystone Shipping, which operates the ships has laid off 100 workers and sent three ships to an early lay up. Keystone operates the ships for owner Canadian National. Three of the pellet plants serviced by the ships are currently idled as a result of t...

Re: LSRC Grain Customers

I think the date is off on the last time trains went to Mackinaw on the line through Standish. The line east from Cheyboygan was removed from service by 1984, but the line up through the middle of the state remained in use by the D&M up until the P&G plant closed in about 1990.

Re: Rails on the Road

If they were in Bay City (or near Bay City), I wonder if it might have been something for Dow in Midland. Given the floods could they have needed a couple pieces of rail within the facility and the railroads couldn't provide it, or get to the location of the facility it was needed in? Just thinking ...
