There was a sterling-elkhart rack train that ran every so often up until around 2005. NS8401 can confirm this for sure.

I also believe there were sterling-elkhart autorack trains that would run every once in a while up to about 2003-2005.

upon further inspection, it appears the line is dormant. I thought the EL&S had a car shop, and other businesses they serve around escanaba? do they just switch and then interchange with the CN in Escanaba so theres no reason for traffic to go through Channing? Besides the line from Channing south, ...

Managed to catch the Ann Arbor in daylight interchanging a grain train with the GLC.

So as I understand it, in the winter months (summer too?) the tacconite plants in northern Minnesota ship their ore to the Escanaba docks. How often do these trains run? do they come up the line from Menominee to Escanaba? any information on the general operations of these movements would be helpful.

My take on today

The GLC is currently interchanging with the Ann Arbor at Osmer, will bring 46 cars back north with them.

The Ann Arbor is tying down on the main at Pittsfield.

Doesn't this plant already receive service?
