Re: CN Train Location Updates - March 2024

It might be in Sarnia by now, but M?332/396 had to stop west of Griswold Road (west of Tappan), with no (Customs) holds. Around 2:15 or so they were getting permission from the dispatcher to move up to 16th Street. Power was one GE locomotive and one EMD locomotive. Nothing spectacular or unusual. M...

A492 east clear mp225 at 11:41. CN duo #3305 + #3118 Through Port Huron and into the tunnel about 1645. The string of empty centerbeam flatcars directly behind the power was a surprise. There's another EB at the east end of the PH yard waiting for a signal to go east. If I had my scanner, I'd proba...

Saw LSRC 6201(?) on CN in Flint this morning between GM Truck & Bus and I-69, with 2 cabooses at the end of a fairly short train.

Re: Train goes into a pit

Not the first time Jimmy (MrBeast) has killed a handsome looking geep, someone give him a SD70ACC to blow up and I’ll be happy. A working steam engine, under steam, would be a much more spectacular thing to blow up. Better yet- two hitting each other head on, like the spectacles they staged more th...

A491 should be just arriving on the Sarnia side of the tunnel now. It has a 3rd unit (CN 2987) cut in about 20 cars from the rear of the train.

Noticed the group photo was posted on Facebook... It was a good time. It's always nice to people watch and listen to people discuss how much they know about everything. Looking forward to next year. 352154685_970283401055870_7322653569220705711_n.jpeg I got tied up and couldn't get there until afte...

I didn't realize June 4 was a Sunday until after I made a morning commitment, so I'll probably make it just in time for the afternoon lull. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again though.

Re: A rant about the gen-z railfanning community

One thing you have to remember is most Railfans are on the spectrum. Are you on the spectrum, SD80MAC? Most (but not all) of the people I've met here have been normal, well adjusted individuals. Those who aren't either don't stick around very long (or get ban hammered) or mature to the point where ...

Re: CN Train Location Updates - April 2023

There's a 533 somewhere out west of Port Huron that's coming into Port Huron. There's a 301 waiting to go west from Port Huron, but they have to wait for the 533 before they'll get the light to go west. 396 must be somewhere west of Emmett (the town, not the street) if that 301 is leaving PH before ...

From 2021 aerials there are tank cars at Marysville Ethanol. I think they resumed operations? That's part of the Marysville Underground facility. The ethanol plant is part of the same complex, but I think most of what they get/ship is via truck. Also, it's news to me that the ethanol plant is inact...

Perfect for train rides, but that probably will never happen!!!! If it was anywhere other than Port Huron, it might have a shot. But it's Port Huron - something like that will never happen. If the NIMBYs don't prevent it, the federal government will because it's too close to the (Blue Water) ...

In the late 2000's I lived about 5 miles north of Elgin for a while. I remember the pair of trains now numbered 252/253, but that was it for freight that I was able to catch. I recall CN running even fewer trains over the ex-Chicago Central between Munger and Rockford in the same time period, althou...

Re: What Design Table Legs Do You Use?

Find a module standard for the scale you're working in. You don't have to follow it exactly, but it will give you a pre-determined method of wiring (especially for DCC) and modules building. Many of the module standards are tried and true, and will give you a good starting point. Personally, I'm str...
