Re: CN / GTW lines in Pontiac

Here's a couple maps I've found that give an overview of the Pontiac area in general during 1947: http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/160509/Pontiac+Township++Auburn+Heights++Lake+Angelus/Oakland+County+1947/Michigan/ http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/160467/Bloomfield+Township++Birmingham++...

Re: CN / GTW lines in Pontiac

PON Jct was (is?) on the north side of town by Walton Blvd. The crossing of the Air Line with the Belt Line when it continued south all the way to the Holly Sub was called MAL Jct. The crossing of the Air Line with the Holly Sub at the south end of town was called MAL Crossing. When the Belt Line w...

Re: CN / GTW lines in Pontiac

While we're on the topic of Pontiac's rail lines, what was the name of the long-gone junction on the far east side of the city where the Michigan Air Line came in from the east and crossed the north-south portion of the Belt Line? For that matter, when was that part of the Belt Line between the junc...

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale

Well, it looks like I'm all wet regarding my views on the Holly Sub; lots more trains on the Holly than I realized, as pointed out by Man o' War, and completely forgot to take into account the wye arrangement between the Mt Clemens and Flint Subs in Port Huron, as noted by strugglin. Thanks for the ...

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale

CN just installed a brand new signal system and PTC on the Mt. Clemens Subdivision. They put new signals on the former DT&I south of Flat Rock, too. In the last ten years or so the Holly Sub has been getting new signals, hasn't it? These are all things that happen when a line is being prepared for ...

Re: CP trackage rights over CSX Michigan and Ohio

About the timing of the B&O routing... I can remember seeing, and with some frequency, trains with Soo and/or CP power and cabooses operating south of Plymouth at least as early as 1986. I was often stopped (on multiple occasions) by northbound trains of such description while driving to high school...

Wayne crossing incident at Merriman Rd.

A bit delayed in reporting, but within the last hour it appeared that a westbound NS train was stopped at Merriman Rd in Wayne, with the head end about half-way to Winnifred St. Many police in the area, climbing into and milling around the lead unit. Don't have any other info. (edited to add directi...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates January 2018

At 10:40am in Wayne/Westland: Two southbounds holding north of Wayne Jct while some kind of work is going on. A number of workmen milling about the area, looking at the diamond. Don't have symbols, but the first train has a large cut of slab steel loads, the second is all intermodal, mostly double-s...

No rumor. And now, Q394 & Q395 have been annulled and combined into Q510 & 511 as well so they are saying.

Re: Plymouth city CSX road blocking email

Why are long trains sitting for 9 hours in town? Am I missing something here? For a few days earlier this month, new signals were put in operation. Each signal from John Hix Rd., north through Plymouth had a flagman and/or switch tender until stuff got sorted out, I guess. Trains were very slow thr...

Not exactly a heads up, but there is a cut of freight cars on the siding in Carleton. Lumber, tank cars, grain hoppers, and intermodals. Perhaps twenty or thirty cars in total. I think this is the first time I've ever seen anything but autoracks on that siding.
