Re: CP to Bluegrass Farms
That is good news. I looked on Google Maps its showing 94 miles to Jeffersonville south of Lima. That's a nice haul for the I&O. And Lima to Chicago is 232 miles looking at Google Maps. Mmm the last time i was to Sugar Street interlocking in Lima was in 2005 there wasn't a wye in the southwest quad...

As I said above, pet coke still that Ive seen recently (read since 10/1) It's not a daily move but about every other week or so. I'll see if I can track down dates and other commodities. I've been noticing a lot of tankers recently too at Morris. CG What sort of traffic has the I&O been moving south...

Re: Couple Lima industry questions.
Both assumptions are incorrect. I&O takes traffic north and south. Petroleum cole has been a big commodity lately. In addition, I&O hands off some traffic to the CF&E. Neither CSX nor NS have direct access to the refinery complex. All switching is done via a contract switching company and then stage...

Re: Couple Lima industry questions.
CSX and NS alternate back and forth on the amount of traffic they receive from the refinery. Some days it's weighted to NS, other days CSX, but, some traffic also goes to the I&O via their interchange with NS at Morris in Lima's east side. Look for lots of positive changes in the next 12 month. Both...

Best Seat in the House
Deshler celebrated Independence Day over this past weekend and shot off their fireworks Saturday night. The crew of Q506 has the best seats in the house as they roll northward on Saturday. https://c6.staticflickr.com/9/8586/27624696373_3ca1edd63d_z.jpg Best Seats in the House by Eric Davis , on Flickr

Re: CSX Derailment - Tontogany Ohio
The Issue with "thinking out loud" is that there are people on this list that work in the industry and have much more insight then the rest of us. To that end, thinking out loud, while seemingly harmless, can be taken as ignorant and somewhat insulting to those involved in things. Professionalism is...

Re: Train Excursions....
Where or who do I get train excursion tickets in the Ohio or Mid west area? My dad use to get tickets when I was younger. We rode behind the 611 and I think the 765 back in the day. Thanks in advance! There was an announcement about upcoming excursions with the 765 being posted soon (this week): ht...

Re: New Ohio South Central Railroad
What is the route for this railroad? How far south does it go. How many miles will they run and who do they hand it off to at the end of the line? First off this is not a "NEW" railroad, the thread started back in 2014, this railroad has been in operation for quite a while, but, before it was the O...

CSX has done hit and miss signal replacements down the line. South of Findlay, the Hancock siding has new signals up to replace the small target search light...from that point south, there are hit and miss replacements to south of Kenton. From Kenton to Ridgeway, the old NYC signals have been replac...

For those interested, the new cantilever has arrived at Leipsic Junction. As of last night (2/6/16) it had not been placed up yet...this afforded us one final night shot as U700 streaks north. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1646/24585995340_c167c714d2_c.jpg Time Has Run Out by Eric Davis , on Flickr

Well, depends, some parts were gone by Conrail, others remained in service for a while after...so I'd look for Penn Central, Cincinnati Division (Southern Region) to start for the entire line. What section are you looking for? CG Tower Would anyone happen to have (and or know the ansewer to my quest...

Yes it is...
Like all good things, they come to an end. Family obligations and life being the primary drivers.
As far as Great Miami information, I assume you mean the info on the Portsmouth Subdivision?
If you have any questions on that line, feel free to ask.

Potash Yard, Lima Ohio, Update
Potash Corporation is building a storage and repair yard in Lima, Ohio. This yard will be located off of the CSX main near South Erie Jct interlocking. Sometimes my work gives me opportunities to do things I never thought I would be able to do. One such example is this yard. My office helped with th...

Re: Toledo Sub CPLs
Not to get everyone excited but with CSX mothballing lines. Deshler to Stanley could be a candidate for through traffic. Some of us old heads remember when the line north of Deshler was embargoed back in the 1990's. There was, at that time, some serious consideration of abandoning the line north of...

Wapak has bases as well. Most of the line up through Deshler has had preliminary work done.
