Re: PM in Lyons

The branch into Lyons long predates the automotive plant. The branch ended at a Pere Marquette freight house and a mill where the forlorn plant now sits. During WWII there was a munitions plant where the automotive factory is. Chrysler acquired the plant from American Auto Felt Corporation in 1965 a...

Re: Unknown railroad crossing

Hello, I have a version of that cabinet card as well (although mine is in much rougher shape) and appears to have belonged to one of the men in the photo – last name Randall. Mine has a pencil notation of Bancroft (on the GTW main). The view also matches up with the Sanborn map of Bancroft and the p...

Re: Michigan Railroad Map Question

Hello, The Ontonagon RR main was from Ontonagon west to Green then south. They had a branch west from Green to Iron River Junction. Could that line thats looks to cross the main, be the old AA car ferry line? Didn't the annie send cars up to Manistuqe for a short period which went up to Dotty where the LS&I would take them? That would be the former Manistique & Lake Superior, now the lead into Manistique Paper (you can see the o...
