Re: GLC Chilson Siding
Be careful if you walk around near the southern Chilson Road crossing.
I was in there evaluating a potential transload terminal (around 2000) and ran across
a rattlesnake (I'm not sure how to spell Mississauga.) Big SOB.

A seiche also can occur from a earthquake or other significant land movement. A tsunami is a seiche that does not osccilate.
As to water flow, there is also a rather large northern water flow underground from the lakes to Hudson Bay.

Re: Great Lakes Central 398 Stuck in Snow in Traverse City,
Back in TSB days, most trouble with engines at crossings were the result of "grooming" the right-of-way for snowmobiles. The groomers piled snow over the tracks until it became compacted and ice. Eight inches or more of ice will skate a loco off the tracks. Very dangerous for the crews and anyone el...

I don't know why I am drawn to this topic. Perhaps the same reason I scan the obits in my local newspaper. Two thirds of obits today were for persons younger than me. Gives you a unsetteling moment. There are people that will need me in the future and I won't be here to help. I turned 77 yesterday.

Re: Just In Case You Thought It Was Easy..
I understand Doctor No's anger (presumed) As owner of TSB I allowed many people to operate locomotives. I even allowed the grade school class of one of my grandchildren to bring their parents and go for a loco ride. They rode in a passenger car and several at a time came into the loco and were allow...

Re: Pompell Derailment
This is the first I heard of the accident. Wonder what happened? I know they've been working on this segment to build it up. Look at the first picture. It appeared the rail snapped. This could be the case since most, if not all of the Middleton Branch has rail lighter than 100 lbs. ....I'm sure the...

The greatest efficacy would be gained by buying a mountain of ties, bolts, spikes... and release some relay from inventory
and let GLC provide the labor.

He only knew it as a black bell but low and behold she's solid brass.
They are nearly all brass and beautiful. We had to paint them to keep
the unsavory element among rail fans from stealing them. Bless their hearts.

Re: GP35’s to be scrapped in Owosso
I'm really sad to hear that my old girls are nearing the end.
Built in 1966, they have lived a good life.
The bell of 388 (Alma milk truck wreck along with 393) is polished and is mounted
on a stand in my office in Florida.
Endeavor to persevere.
