Re: Plymouth Sub Grand Rapids and other lines

Good evening or morning which ever way you look at it. I'm kind of curious if someone could guide me to some action. I wanted to know how often CSX sends a train down the Plymouth sub towards Detroit. One of these days I would like to record a train going across the old Chessie Bridge on Patterson ...

Re: B&OCT History Book Available

I have to question the proof reading skills of someone who can't spell the name of the road that replaced the B&OCT. If putting those 3 letters was that hard, what else was missed? Now, if that is a subtle shot at "super chief" Dunbar, bravo! I will order a book the minute it is confirmed that it was.

Re: GLC Acquiring SD35's?

I am just guessing, but since these are old locomotives, the CN will want them to be inspected before accepting them at interchange. Do they have coupler limit blocks installed? What kind of journals do they have? So on and so forth. Depending on the train they are going on out of the BRC, there mig...

No doubt part of the project to convert the interlocking to dispatcher control. End of the third quarter is what I am hearing, going to the RN.

Re: Pine Jct switches and crossovers removed

Wow, crazy. IIRC Q368 and Q369 (I think) used it historically to get to and from the BRC via the NS. We would occasionally use it on N800/801 and E800/E801 to get around congestion on the NS between 497 and 501. Is the 501 connection a way for CSX to get to the BRC? I never heard heard why CSX was ...

Lafayette still has its yard masters. They will be controlling Garrett when after the yard masters leave there.

Re: Fostoria signal question

Probably seeing more restricting now if the dispatchers are using automated computer-line ups and fleeting more often than perhaps the tower operator used to. Perhaps in the past the tower operators didn't line up trains quite as fast as the remotes and their computer overlords do now. Which begs t...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study

Great. Ad hominem attacks by Typhoon. Typical. That’s how you know you’re winning. “Hundreds” of daily riders is pretty weak. I-196 does thousands. So much cheaper just to expand the freeway, or as this study points out, a bus. The train would be a waste of money which will fail to solve a p...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study

Works in other places, I didn’t realize western Michigan was so unique. If there is enough demand for “ hundreds of people” to ride the train, then yes somehow they will find a way to get people to work. Rideshare would be one piece of that puzzle. "Works in other places" like where? Maybe you shou...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study

So, you hop on the train in Grandville or Hudsonville to go to your job in the Holland area. The train stops at the Holland depot. How then do you get to your job that could easily be several miles away? Does western Michigan not have Uber/Lyft? Hundreds of people are going to jump in an Uber or Ly...
