Re: MSU E. Lansing

With a long enough zoom you can get a decent afternoon shot from the extreme northeast corner of the former MSU Credit Union (now IBM) parking lot. I suppose if you took a Frisbee along you could get away with a visit further east along that...

Re: MSU E. Lansing
I was out there this afternoon and got to watch the GE pull a cut of five empty hoppers* out from the unloader to the first siding, then bring a cut of five loaded hoppers in from the third siding. The SW-1 is still sitting where I first saw it, at the head of a cut of about 20 loaded cars on the se...

Reportedly it's on Q33510, wherever that happens to be. Last report was it hadn't left Toledo as of about 3:20pm.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I knew that was a possibility. I can test camera settings on it. Any word on if and when Q33510 left Toledo?

Early afternoon seems to be a good time to catch them there. This was Tuesday, Jun 7, at about noon-thirty. You can easily get good shots from the public sidewalk, even with nothing more than a lowly camera phone (which is all I had with me that day). http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/1...

Have there been any symbols dropped on the Plymouth sub through Lansing since X500 was scratched a few months ago?

Tim, I have two Nikon slide scanners, an LS 2000 and a 5000 ED. I'd be happy to scan a few images for you.

Very interesting to see a picture. I would have expected the wye to have a smooth single-radius arc though.

Here's one of those trains headed for the Thumb. Lucked out and caught it at Trowbridge on 7 August 2007. I've never seen loads like that again.

Here are some pic I took at Reid last summer... Same fr8, different position. http://picasaweb.google.com/postmartinism/ReidMachineryLansing2010?feat=directlink Nice photos. Interestingly, in the aerial photography at Google Maps, CNUR 511 is clearly sitting on the plant spur just outside the fence...

Who owns the Saginaw Yard now? More importantly, who patrols it? (That very nice photo of the GP9 seems as though it would have to have been taken from inside the gate.)

I've just belatedly upgraded to version 2.10 on a new computer, and I just want to thank Mike for the beautiful new 2.10 layout. Wow, this is going to be fun. (I'm having a little issue with ATCS Monitor telling me that some of the stations aren't in my MCP database, when I can see that they are and...

There didn't seem to be any vacant tables, and as it was closing and I was leaving I heard a couple of club members talking about how pleased they were with the turnout. I had the impression that there might have been less to -look- at for the casual attendee or kid-in-tow than the other times I've ...

Here's a view of the new tracks on the north side of the main between Farm and Harrison:
The eastbound freight is on the main--the two tracks you can see are new. View is to the southwest.
