ATCSMon "An error occurred in LoadLayout" with cn-ver2.10.la
I'd ask this question at greatlakeslive/railstream, but I'm having trouble re-registering on the new site. I haven't used ATCSMon for a couple of months, and when I fired it up tonight I got the following error box when it tried to load the CN Flint Sub dispatcher display cn-ver2.10.lay: An error oc...

That's for the assembly line model changeover, right? I wish someone would start making a convertible anthracite again. Or even just a sporty two-seat lignite.KenB wrote:Could it be the mines are down due to the annual coal miners vacation the first two weeks in July.

The NEW Hollow Yard was built in late 1972 and early 1973 as opposed to the Old Hollow Yard which was built in 1905 and was just plain Hollow Yard until 1973. Old Hollow Yard is the three double ended tracks that run from Olds Ave east to the start of the New Hollow Yard just east of West St. The H...

Q335-05 westbound at Hagadorn Road at 5:15pm. Rang up at 570 axles and well over 8000 feet, so I'm guessing there was more power up front than CSXT 8560.

No sign of the GE anywhere near Simon late this afternoon. The EMD was under cover in the warming shed. you didn't look hard enough. The GE critter is still there, parked under cover behind the mobile crane. You can see from the grade crossing on Recycle Drive. I'd take a photo, but don't have the ...

Re: Lansing Manufacturers Railroad 1904-1969
Here's what I pulled together. Please let me know if you spot any errors: The Lansing Manufacturers Railroad and its successor operators built and serviced industrial spurs into many properties along its route. Among the most significant: * At the Robert Street terminus: Olds Motor Works (1902-1908)...

Meadows Industrial Track, Lansing
In 1995, when the Lansing Secondary was still owned by Conrail, something called the Meadows Industrial Track (actually two tracks, #252 the engine lead and #801 Motor Wheel - West Side Track 1) branched off to the northeast at the foot of Walker St, near Grand River Avenue. The right of way is very...

1995 "ZTS Book" for Conrail's Dearborn Division
In the course of looking for answers to questions about the Lansing Manufacturers Railroad that I posted down in the Historical Q&A forum last week, I came across a very interesting 278-page (wide format) PDF document: "Enclosed is your New DEARBORN VOL 2 ZTS Book. This replaces your old DEARBORN VO...

Re: JACKSON - LANSING RR / PART 2
So, on a different JAIL note, I just discovered today that the GP-15's are not orange and black as I assumed but orange and what seems to be the BN Executive dark green. That's kind of cool. Maybe. And in regards to 1760. Yes, it is at Saginaw yard. Last week saw it switching the stub yard along th...

I want my time machine, and I want it now...
I live less than a mile from where the Plymouth Subdivision crosses Dobie Road at CH 80. I'm still boggled by something I learned yesterday about that line's history. In 2011, I could spend all day watching and might not see more than three trains--Q334, Q335, and the Lansing yard job, two of which ...

Plymouth Subdivision Technical Data
I've been doing some research about the Plymouth Subdivision, learning some interesting history (frex, the original line on this right of way was built by the Detroit, Lansing & Lake Michigan Rail Road, which opened the Brighton-Williamston-Lansing segment on August 31, 1871 to complete the first di...

Re: MSU E. Lansing
Good sun angles on the new locomotive are hard to come by. With a long enough zoom you can get a decent afternoon shot from the extreme northeast corner of the former MSU Credit Union (now IBM) parking lot. I suppose if you took a Frisbee along you could get away with a visit further east along tha...
