Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020

Just heard a horn of a CSX train in Howell. No idea what it is if it’s D706 or D708.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020

D801-27 cleared the Waverly Wye around 11:40PM with BNSF 59xx leading 130 loads with CSX power pushing on the rear. Followed Amtrak P370-27 into Holland, meanwhile it sounds like D700-27 is working a customer in the Zeeland area. N800-27 is tying down the train at Grand Junction per scanner convo wi...

Re: Go Go Squeeze email stating rail service starting

Could inbound sugar or other ingredients for Go Go Squeeze be a viable business for GLC to pick-up? Is there any other prospective business in TC aside from the two current shippers?

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020

Doesn't mean much with my counting, but 79+106 is 185 and I counted 174. Power was 408+358+6070, by Howell at 08:10. At least the first 100 cars beyond the first dozen were all GLC cars that were picked up at Ann Pere the last few days. This many cars sure ought to cut down the amount of cars on 32...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020

CSX sent up a unit train of stone hoppers to Rougemere from Toledo this morning - looks like the same cars that go to Lansing/GR. CSXT 135 was the leader. Those will fill up Detroit nicely until the next 705 can take them.

Re: CSX Plymouth sub train symbols (Early 2000's)

336/337 went away for all of the above reasons along with Ford Wixom closing. We usually has a fairly short train from McGrew that expanded with a large pickup at Wixom Yard. Hold on to those Grand Blanc Ensle cars for Oldsmobile! And sometimes cement cars from Lafarge for Boichot Concrete in Lansi...

Re: CSX Plymouth sub train symbols (Early 2000's)

Are you sure it wasn’t around April 2011? Originally D707 was placed that symbol when assigned to get the GR cars for Ensel so they could abolish 326/327 and Q334/335 could bypass Ensel.

Re: CSX Plymouth sub train symbols (Early 2000's)

10/30/2010 is when they discontinued. Ever since then Q326/327 was abolished in early 2011, then brought back in 2018 as Q328/329. Q334/335 lasted until 2016, then came back in 2017 as D705/706, then became Q384/385 until 328/329 replaced them. Q336/337 were (I believe) abolished around late 2000/ e...

D735-16 has gotten onto the train Z127 set off at South Novi and is approaching Middle River (Plymouth) to wait for Q508 to clear then head south. D735 did not pick-up the cars on Novi siding.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: August, 2020.

Z127-16 came south off the LSRC with CSXT 45 leading into Novi. The train was tied-down at South Novi on the main due to the previous day’s Z127 set off on the siding next to it. Meanwhile, there is an empty DTE coal train split in two in Lincoln Yard in Wixom and a southbound facing unit train with...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: August, 2020.

Unknown Westbound from Rougmere went to Plymouth’s North Yard with a pair of CSX GP40-3s LHF and about 30 mixed freight cars. I couldn’t get loco numbers as I was caught with SW on the opposite side of the diamond waiting for D714 to head south at the same time. Wonder what plans are changing now.....

Re: The Future?

Personally, I think the next big event to come in Michigan is CSX’s departure of their operations from Plymouth to Porter that’s rumored for as long as most of us have been alive (30 years), especially with the way they’ve ran Grand Rapids to Plymouth the past few years. They’ve gone from a pair of ...

CSX Plymouth, MI Operations 2020

With work being slow due to COVID and my daughter taking an interest in trains, I’ve finally been able to be around Plymouth and get some consistent operational observations after a few years of inconsistent train watching and how erratic CSX has been changing their operational plans, especially whe...

Re: If the Rails Were Still There

The MAL Railway from Pontiac to Wixom instead of abandoning it in 2012 (like what really happened) it was used as a light-rail system from the Pontiac Transport Center to South Lyon. Station stops in between include Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake, West Bloomfield, Walled Lake, Wixom, and New Hudson. Gra...

The WAS’s at both ends of Lake O are showing high greens. Imagine it is for the Q329. Lingering in the area to see if they show up. Edit: Passing through lake o now. Not sure about leader or train symbol. Too dark. No scanner.Fairly long train. Not a D707 type. The second half (or more) of the trai...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: April, 2018.

D735-22 cleared the Saginaw Wye in Plymouth just shy of midnight with CSX 5250 and CSX 5109 and about 68+ cars. Lots of tank and boxcars and an LSRC log car loaded with ship anchors strapped to the stakes of the car....never know what you’ll see. D735 was “drag racing” Q274 out of Rougemere until so...

AC44 trailing (couldn’t catch the loco number when it was going by Middle River). Train had a bunch of centerbeam cars on the tail end. Sounds like they will be setting off cars in East Yard before continuing east.
