Re: HESR new power
MQT plans to retire 3389 and 3391 this year, would not be surprised if HESR also elects to retire 3390.

Re: Shortlines Train Locations Updates - April 2024
Yet again, I was late by 20 minutes and got trackside after the train passed. I’m seeing what looks like 2 boxcars on the Padnos spur track / siding south of 44th St and north of 50th St Gordon Food Services Truck depots. Probably delivered by Grand Elk 303 or another local 303 does not switch any ...

Re: New Ties along the Lake State Railroad in Holly
From what I have seen from Lake State, they are about as first class as you can get in railroading. I had my doubts when they first began, but really have proved to be a winner. New track, new customers, good service, a great paint scheme, cannot ask for much more. The only sad issue was the end of...

Re: CSX head on collision in Folkston, Georgia
From what I'm reading and hearing from the scanner archive posted by the Folkston Train Watching group, the MOW guys reported the switches were lined and locked for both trains to proceed on opposite mains, when in reality they were not. Since the signal system was either suspended or taken out of s...

Yes. When Cap Pinkerton Jr took over in the 70s, reinvestment into the physical plant stopped. By the late 80s, a decade of virtually no maintenance had taken its toll.

Re: The return of gypsum near Alabaster for Lake State.
Wonder what the speed was on the old D&M?? ALSO-- what happens to the Alpena yard job, and/ or the old roundhouse in Alpena?? Alpena yard job isn't going anywhere. They will still keep a Geep up there to service the local industries, even after they implement a Bay City-Alpena turn. Track speed on ...

The goal is to get the speed high enough on the Huron Sub for LSRC to be able to run a turn job from Bay City to Alpena and back with one crew.

Re: Future Cement Business Livingston
Heard that the old sand plant was being reactivated, that's good to hear its actually moving forward. D700 used to be a 3 man job because of all of the switching they would do at Livingston sand!
