Re: GDLK Gearhart yard
This radio program explains the name of Grand Elk's Gearhart yard. http://wmuk.org/post/rail-yards-new-name-sparks-curiosity I just read on a railfan website that the name of Gearhart yard has possibly been changed to Botsford. Does anybody know if this is true and if so why name change? This isn’t...

The white one was scrapped in 2013-2014. It was gone by the time I started regularly working Padnos on Y121 and Y223.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - March 2024
Puny train. First car is a MOW flat with a backhoe on it. Do you ever see the huge 326s, or do you only ever comment on the abnormally small ones? I grew up near Fargo, ND, where BNSF’s northern transcon mains cross. Dozens of trains a day and every one 100+ cars. Even the local shortline usually r...

I wondered who's been messing with the wiki. Just don't delete anything. Some of us have put a lot of time into it, including AA page which I see has already been monkeyed with. And who the heck messed with the Fallen Flags page!?

Re: arkansas midland fined for hazmat violations
I’m surprised at how long chemicals, plastics and resins will SIT between loading and unloading. I read the average plastics covered hopper only makes three to four round trips per year. Chemical tank cars only five to six. The tank cars in this article sat loaded for two years. The railroads are p...

Re: EMD Questions
1. I’m not sure why “engine oil” and “water” are written on that engine where they are, but that’s just part of the frame and walkway. Oil is kept, well, inside of the diesel engine itself or in part of the fill tank which is usually located in the front of the engine. Water is stored in the water t...
