If those tanks are the same ones as a few years ago they were used by a company that makes aircraft de-icer fluids. Cold weather be coming. I forget where they went or who the company was.
These were brand new, built in 2019 IIRC

WMI interchanged around 25 cars to CSX in Hartford last night, most of which were storage cars which are being put into service again.

MMRR 2169 was sighted in Avon on CSX earlier this week. Supposed to be handed off to CN (not sure where at) who will bring it to Durand for HESR or GLC to bring to the MMRR.

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread

GE is rebuilding them at Erie, as far as I know. It wouldn't surprise me if CSX had plans to eventually rebuild their entire fleet of AC4400s.

It would seem that the wye at Sunnyside is the popular choice for turning power. I'm curious if and when the wrecking ball will hit the empty engine house.
For now the engine house is still used by MOW, the signal department and the radio/communications department.

GLC 383 has been running regular since September 18th, mostly south of Owosso and only went north for the first time recently. This is the former MRL 705.
It’s first trip was on an extra north to Ithaca IIRC.

I thought I had heard that the track from the diesel house lead to the wye is OOS.
That would be the dispatch track, IIRC.

I think it will go by South Lyon at 2:55pm this afternoon. I say that because it went by Howell at 3:28pm. 819+3176 on the head end with 93cars. That must be a typo... 2:55pm has already passed.... It's a joke, because it already went by South Lyon. And it's about 30 min from South Lyon to Howell b...

They do still use it. It's called the cinder pit wye. The reason it doesn't see as much use any more is that it's not as convenient. Power for the road trains is usually parked in front of the tower any more. Getting at the cinder pit wye from the tower requires handling a lot of extra switches and...

Is that wht 3008 and mates were tied up in Grant on Sunday. Or do they always tie up there? Made for a colorful fall scene coming down M-37.
Not sure what 3008 is but they will often tie up anywhere between Newaygo and Sparta on the weekends.

Re: CN SD70M-2 8952 in GTW Blue ?

CN goes out of their way to do something great like this, and people complain about it. (Un)Believable.

Also, why would CN paint a unit for Ontario Northland, which has never been owned by CN?

How much planning work is needed by a CSX dispatcher serving Michigan in 2020? Older EMDs are still around because they were built well, reliable and relatively easy to maintain. Parts are also easy to get. Older GEs are generally not as reliable and just did not last in service as long as their EMD bretheren. GEs seem to last 20-30 years while many EMDs are approaching their ...
