Re: GTW 79054 caboose on move

CN 5491 would be an SD60, FWIW. Well it was definitely a 40 so I’m remembering the number wrong. Maybe 5291, who knows. Either way, the caboose is still being used as a shoving platform, I don’t know how often though. 5291 has been a frequent visitor to Kalamazoo, as well as many of the SD60s. The ...

Re: New Local Engine in Pontiac!!

So does this mean that newer stuff like EJ&E and WC are under the Grand Trunk Corporation or are they there own entities?Come to think of it, does CN even own any of these lines or is it more like a long time lease? As of February 2021, Canadian National Railway Company owns the following subsidiar...

Re: Playin in the snow

When the snow gets deeper than about a half inch I have to run the plow because it just packs in front of the leader geep and eventually will cause it to derail. If its the first snow, or its all melted off I can get away without running the plow but like the real railroad, once I use the plow I'm c...

Re: Playin in the snow

Do you have a plow should the need arise? I do have a snow plow for when the snow gets deeper. I've used it a few times this winter but today the snow wasn't quite deep enough to need the plow Don't need no stinkin snow plow when you have GP38's  . What scale is that and more pictures would be...

Re: GTW 4625 (GP9R)

The GP9r frames look different than their originals. It looks like they notched out the middle portion to fit the tube. Theres some wrong info in here They did not chop the frame off. The ones I've encountered still have their original frame. The nose is probably about 81-88 inches. I've never actu...

Re: GTW 4625 (GP9R)

Theres some wrong info in here I'm reading that the GP9r cab and short hoods are from GP38's. Is that correct? And is the short hood the 81" or 88" length? No. According to everything I’ve read, the cabs and short hoods were fabricated by GTW at the Battle Creek shops. They look very similar to the ...

Re: Pedestrian Hit By GDLK Train in Kalamazoo Yesterday.

Having been hit by a train, You'd be amazed at how easy it is for equipment to sneak up on you. I didn't even have ear buds in. Now, that was getting struck by a shoving movement. Saturnalia is right, just stay clear of the track and its not a problem. Was the engineer laying on the horn for a long...

Re: CN Idles Battle Creek Yard 04/03/2020

Battle Creek is not idled. Traffic is severly cut back and its down to a single yard job on days and one at night. Battle Creek does a lot of block swapping but it also builds a lot of blocks. With the auto traffic nearly stopped there isn't a lot of traffic to switch any more but they are still rec...

I am not really sure who told you that one, but that cant be further from the truth. Re: CN Derailment in Port Huron Tunnel

They dragged the DPU out at some point Monday afternoon, from what was posted on Facebook. So, there is no crew or engineer on the DPUs? Distributed Power Units are not manned, they are radio-controlled from the lead locomotive. This is the distinction from the manned helper locomotives of yore. DP...
