Re: BO Tower in Kalamazoo
AFAIK, and I don't know a lot about signals, it looks like the old existing signals were replaced by the newer LED ones, and are now all approach lit. The ones on the signal bridge at CP Gord where the Michigan Line joins CN appear unchanged and are constant lit. IDK if any were added/deleted/moved...

Re: My Layout - Ludington Northern Railway
Executive decision time: I knew all along that bridge/creek thing over by Sargent would be an experiment...I kept the original shim ramp...I have decided that the bridges will be removed and that area once again buried under what will become a very large sand dune. It will break up the sight lines,...

Re: Zoo train hits car on tracks, video
Why? Did you see how much time he had to stop the train? It didn't look like he tried to stop either. So you think the operator could have stopped the train on a dime? Fair enough, the real ones don't stop quick I know the small scale ones don't either. But it goes back to the whole thing of if the...

Re: Zoo train hits car on tracks, video
One thing you have to keep in mind is that many amusement park trains have no brakes on any of the cars. The CP&LERR only had steam jam brakes on the locos but were told not to use them unless they had to. Obviously there are requirements that have to be met like draw bars instead of couplers and p...

Then they are going too fast for the locationhoborich wrote:In the video, there is nothing in front of the car to cause it to stop on the tracks. The zoo train appears to see the car as it comes around the curve, and is clearly trying to stop. I would have to go with the zoo train on this one.

Re: South Bend Sub. at Penn
Said to see the loss of the old signals. I talked to a maintainer yesterday and he said the new Safetran signals are pretty cheap and he wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to get new signals up to replace the "new" ones in a few years

Re: MSRR GP9
As some future project, I might do one of the GTW GP9r's, which are currently in 4600 series, since i see them still working in the yard in Battle Creek on a daily basis. This I find impressive since they were originally built in the mid 1950's. IIRC the current units were rebuilt around 1990 in BC...

Re: Huge layout on Ebay
The Kato CR SD80MACs were a good example of this. They where selling for almost double what the MSRP was. I've noticed that trend with the Kato CNW Bi-Levels, Most of the cars are selling for at least MSRP if not more, I saw a car go for over 100 dollars with shipping. I'd like to get some more but ...

Thats not a spur, its the original mainline. The main was relocated to where it is now after they built the Airport and Military Base, if you start at Renton road and work east you can follow the other end of it to the airport
