Re: What is the requirement of working on the rail road

If you are willing do something along the lines of "light rail" and live near Detroit, my employer, the Qline (Detroit’s Streetcar system) is consistently looking for Streetcar Operators. 10-hour days, 3-days off. No RRT BUT you won't be finding very many "easier" rail-related jobs than that. Just g...

Re: What Happened to the Coast to Coast? Michigans possible only commuter line that could work

In my honest opinion, the first thing MDOT badly needs to do if they were going to add Amtrak trains, is to first add a 4th (and preferably a 5th) Wolverine round-trip to close the "afternoon gap" on the east end (my end of the Wolverine corridor). Going off of Dearborn Station arrival times (since ...

Re: Underrated Ohio Railfanning Locations

I'm going to say any spot between Millbury and Amherst on the NS Chicago Line. Millbury is claimed to be so over-rated by railfans around the area (Michigan/Ohio/Indiana), I completely disagree, It’s close to civilization (Toledo) but you also feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere at once, whic...

Re: Suggestions for all day railfanning around the D

Honestly..it's either Delray, Romulus, or Plymouth. Those spots have the highest train counts for a single place to plant yourself at. As for your fear of Delray: if you Park next to the CN crossing bungalow where there is a wide dirt-gravel spot off of the St. Mary's Cement entrance off Dearborn St...

This was put in shortly after CP gained Detroit to Chicago trackage rights on NS in 2009.
Connection has been there since 2005...
Must have happened when CP first started looking at switching off of CSX then. I wouldn't have guessed that. Good to know!

Re: Michigan line

NS has no interest in paying CP to use their connection at Butler. What traffic NS does have flowing between Chicago and Detroit just takes the long way via Toledo. This is really intriguing. Whether they go via Detroit-Ft Wayne-Chicago or Detroit-Elkhart-Chicago, they have the same crew expense be...

Re: SRI power confusion

As A SRI volunteer,I'll definitively kill the speculation once and for all:

F40PH #310 is just leased for NPE.With "only" 12 cars this year, it was felt it was worth renting a locomotive with HEP to try to eliminate the need for a separate HEP generator car.Nothing to see here. 🤪

Re: CN's Dearborn Division

If there is enough traffic on a given day, L571 will also pickup or drop off NS interchange traffic, using the 2 interchange tracks on the south side of O.J.

Not consistently but I've noted it before.

St. Joseph- May 22nd-23rd,2021

Hey Guys, This is my first ever trip report. I usually post on Facebook and Instagram only but thanks to help from this group's members on the "CSX Train Location/Update" feed, I was able make a couple key catches over this last weekend while I was staying in St. Joseph. Here is the catches this gro...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2021

If that's the New Richmond at mp 36 per the Time Table, Q326 is going over the St Joseph Bridge now at 10:03am & that would be about 1 hour & 25 minutes away from New Richmond mp 36. Q326-23 had cleared the St Joseph bridge @ 10:08 & was reported by the DD at mp CG91.9 just a few minutes earlier ha...

He’s in if not already through St Joe since he was at the Vine detector south of town just 14 minutes ago.
darn. So next up is just Q327 around 11:30am-12pm thru St. Joe??
That is correct.
And that is basically it for most of the day until Amtrak P370 comes back from Chicago?
