Re: GLC Commuter Stock

Since no takers locally, (SRI got parlor cars) no CMU commuter train in Mt. Plessant or Traverse City trains or Wally they needed to unload them. Somebody else will have to tell us if they got rebuilt or un-rebuilt ones in Nashville? As to MDOT not only monthly rental but didn't Federated Rail (GLC...

Re: RPA Proposes 31 New Corridors, 3 in Michigan.

Thank you for the compliment Doktor No. I would love to turn my idea into a full-fledged proposal for presentation to MDOT or even just the MARP people but I'd be lost on to come by making it happen or find out who to talk to.

Re: RPA Proposes 31 New Corridors, 3 in Michigan.

Out of all of those Michigan proposals, only one that makes sense is GRR-LAN-DET makes sense for a daily service BUT only if you do it by extending the current CHI-GRR Amtrak Pere Marquette all the way into Detroit along the C&O to Plymouth, turn south to Wayne JCT.,then turn east on the MC Main so th...

Re: Allen Road Crossing back in the news...

http://rrcrossings.woodhavenmi.org/ Only two years late, but two of the crossings, including Allen Road, are now up for viewing. Van Horn will wait. They have cameras at Sibley,Eureka, and Pennyslvania Rds on the CSX Saginaw Sub in New Boston for the same reasoning, thanks to trains stopping to pick ...

Re: Great Lakes Central 398 Stuck in Snow in Traverse City,

I was up there this past weekend on a get-a-way and couldn't figure this out even with Google Maps: is Williamsburg end-of-track or is that how trains get into TC?

Re: National Train Day 2018-Toledo,Ohio

Nice pictures JS. It's cool that AA and NS provided some engines. But did it seem like a lighter turnout than usual? Id say so considering I never had to wait long for anything like restrooms or vendor booths or the speeder ride. Heck the platform closest to the NS Chicago Line that is usually pack...

Re: CSX reveal date?

Oh thats old news lol. CSX Michigan trackage has been under "study for possible sale or lease" since the end of CP running over the PM and the selling or leasing of most of the Thumb trackage to LSRC in 2005.I'll believe a change in ownership/operators when I see it.

Re: Ferry Yard - AA

When did Ferry Yard actually cease to operate. I know, when I was growing up in the early 1980's in AA, my dad would take me to Ferry Yard. Back then the customers I knew of in the great AA area that were served from Ferry were the Saline Branch (cars would be dropped in Ferry then taken down to th...

Volunteering at Tourist Roads near Detroit

Is there any tourist roads a couple hours of Detroit that will train people to be brakemen or conductors? Im asking as I really want to work on a railroad and feel that having any kind of prior operating railroad experience would help. Thanks in advance.

Re: Steam Railroading Institute purchases C&NW #175

175 to my knowledge is the only survivor in this configuration from the C&NW. There are two others that survive as well. One at the Mid-Continent Rail Museum in Wisconsin, and another at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver. MQT1223 means 175 is the only one with the superheating and updated ...

As for the viewing platform,CSX did donate the land for the rail park and its not facing the busiest line at all. Thats all I know lol
