Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread
For what it's worth CSX #8759 has been running on Q701/704 for awhile now. 8735 and 8725, who have run recently, have not done anything in the past week. Maybe they finally got caught

Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
One time I was told UPS has a lot to do with NS and CSX helping each other out when routes have been blocked. Not saying this is a fact. Although it does make since. It’s also great to see the two railroads work together in times of need. I heard somewhere that Q001/002 have 25 hours to get from Li...

Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
As for the second question, I am not sure what the basis of your question is. In the earlier "short insult" portion of this discussion (where people were simply saying "you are wrong" without providing any real information) it sounded like the debate was "NS never uses CSX" vs "NS always uses CSX"....

Re: Abandoned line Hoopeston, IL
It's the Lake Erie and Western line from Sandusky,Oh to Peoria,Il. Further west, from Gibson City through Bloomington to Peoria is still NS. East of Lafayette, it is now the NS line though Frankfort, Muncie, Portland,IN. One source suggests the segment between Gibson City and Cheneyville was abando...

Re: Abandoned line Hoopeston, IL
C&EI=Chicago and Eastern Illinois. Did that trackage on a Sperry car. C&EI also had a branch from Hoopeston to a place called Cissna Park that ran westward. That crossed their Woodland to ST. Louis and the line southward towards Salem and Chaffee line. That's now the UP line ex MOPAC/C&EI. C&EI/MP ...

Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
Planned outages vs derailments...comparing apples to oranges here. NS carefully planned be outage, putting in place plans to run their hotshots over the other lines and cancelling most other trains. They had complete control of everything, the what where and how. Totally different that a wreck wher...

Re: Q090/091 Trains going away ?
Ive noticed the Q090s know have mixed freight on them and Ive saw 2 Q091s with mostly all slop freight on them and very few reefer blocks on the rear. Rumor haves it that CSX is going be loosing the reefer stuff to NS. Q091 now runs from Willard, and the New York traffic is handled on Q389

but NS would have virtually no conceivable need to ever run CSX rails if the situation were reversed given it's access to Chicago via three different mains And yet they often do.... Seen it happen. Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
Some real craziness is going on! Precision railroading? The county reposted some daytime shots of the pile on Facebook earlier today. It is a mess. But CSX has professional help. Indeed, but NS would have virtually no conceivable need to ever run CSX rails if the situation were reversed given it's ...

Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
The derailed train was Q015-02 with 496 and 7761 Q002 Q003 Q010 & Q020 have already been rerouted via NS. Other CSX trains like K628 (Jacksonville, FL-Blue Island, IL) have been sidelined onto other CSX lines. It was routed straight up the Toledo Subdivion into Tontogany, OH. They'll probably keep i...

Abandoned line Hoopeston, IL
Viewing a copy of Delhorme's Indiana Atlas, I noticed two railroads running through Hoopeston, IL. One is a North/South line (CSX's heavily used ex- Chicago & Eastern Indiana) and the other seemingly an extension of the KBS from Lafayette, IN. However, I recently checked out Google Earth after consi...

The last scheduled train to use it was Q209 (Walbridge-Hammond) back in the Summer. Since then there's been nothing other than random moves like today's X151

Re: Waterloo Frequency
Saw a post by Notch 8 that this was coming down. Yep. The replacements have been in place for a few years. It is just a matter of NS getting that far down the line from where signals have already been replaced (407 to Chicago is done and NS has been working across Ohio as well). Yeah they're up to ...
