Isn't there a passenger car in the shop as well?

A Day at CP 285- 10/19/2017

Seems I've turned into more of a lurker on here than a poster... Well, here's a few shots from trackside on Thursday... 4 Standard Cab leaders were nice. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4450/37859786561_b9d6bbe70f_c.jpg Standard Cab Leader by James B , on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4447/37...

Sad. All that history wiped away. Too bad none of the signals were saved.

Chasing the Torpedo Boat- 8-29-2017

Got a chance to finally check out the newly done INER "torpedo boat" GP9H #5903 (ex-CUT/NYC) yesterday and do a little chasing. What a wonderful job by the guys at Indiana Northeastern. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4407/36086843444_2feae1eae1_c.jpg EMD Goodness by James B , on Flickr https://farm5...

Soo #1003 Visits Chicago

Every once and awhile, work and cool stuff in Chicago match up. Case in point, Saturday I worked, and low and behold steam was back in Chicago in the form of Soo Line 2-8-2 Mikado #1003, doing a charity fundraiser for The Shriner's Children's Hospital. Quite a few folks around, and got to talk shop ...

Re: Freep Michigan Central Station Article

While I am all for this in the aspect of historical preservation, I don't see it. Do you realize how much Amtrak or MDOT (and really it'll be MDOT) would have to put into the project to get the Wolverine back Downtown? It'd make sense if there was a train that connected thru Windsor, but to basicall...

Business on the AMTK Michigan Line

Got to ride 353 and 354 this past week to Chicago for business and made a few notes that thought a few might be interested in. -Contractors Steel in Canton is shipping/receiving. Spotted a bulkhead flat and a scrap gon on their spur. -Worthington Steel in Canton (Haggerty) didn't have any cars, but ...

VIA RDCs Return to Windsor

VIA Rail for the next 3 days is running "Safety Trains" between Windsor Station and WFCU Arena for schoolkids. Budd RDC's were called from storage. VIA RDC-4 #6251 (ex-CN), RDC-2 #6208, and RDC-1 #6105 (ex-CN) started off their trips this morning. Here's one of the keeper shots. https://c1.staticfli...

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread

So, to bring up something interesting of note, noticed CSX RCPHG6 #9303 (C30-7) in full YN2, with it's hood doors open (prime mover well visible) chilling on the west side of the Collinwood Shop complex this morning, coupled to a GP30 RDSLUG. Thought all of these had been shipped south and or scrap...

Re: Ann Arbor Mode Railroad Club show 2017

Well I went Sunday, and it was, in train show terms, like a ghost town. Picked up a few items, but I've seen better selections elsewhere. I think the weather played a role in the emptiness on Sunday. Not sure if I'd be hitting this show again, maybe on an off chance.

If you see CSS&SB crew, ask. We got lucky last fall when we stopped by and asked a crew coming on duty and we were told a light engine move was gonna be on it's way east as soon as the passenger train cleared. Definitely not disappointed. https://c1.staticflickr.com/6/5582/30213924740_6f3a59852e.jpg...

CV Island Creek Sub Update February 2017

Been awhile since I posted an update on the new Clinch Valley. The old layout I was working on came down back in November after some bowing occurred that was needless to say, unplanned for. I re-designed the new layout to be a bit more compact, starting with a 4x6' layout and then will be expanding ...
