Re: CSX Train Location Updates - October 2017

Appears 326 is sitting at Lamar, with the rear end blocking the crossings at Ivanrest, Barrett, and Ottawa Ave in Grandville. Just barely fits between Lamar and EODT Grandville...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2017

I have been seeing CSX signal maintainers around 12th ave for a couple weeks. The South cantilever had a substantial lean towards the railhead from years of service.(and being hit a few times I'm sure) I noticed a new "bulb" or anchor assembly sitting on the back of a truck last week on my way home ...

Re: Conrail Grand Rapids 1990s

People tell me the crossing at Kzoo and 44th wasn't removed until like 10-15 years ago. I can assure you, the track crossing 44th St has been out since well before 2002. I barely remember as a kid the monstrosity that used to be there that held the flashing lights for the crossing, and I was pretty...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - July 2017

This is Mile Post 10 at 7:10 this morning. Had more trees to the east of here, plus a few downed high tension lines that were impeding the rail traffic. Passed 371 sitting on Track 2 in Grandville on the way out to snag this picture, and by the time I turned around and went passed where they were pa...

Thats exactly what I was hoping for, Chuck. Thank you for the thorough story on this trackage. This fills in so many blanks.

So, the C&O owned property, but you don't know if they ever actually had rail down on that property?

Re: GM Wyoming plant trackage (Burlingame Plant)

Seems like the trackage went into what is now Pinery Park at one time. GM Wyoming plant trackage (Burlingame Plant)

I was wondering if anybody out there had any insight on the track layout for the GM plant off of Burlingame in Wyoming when it had service. The track leading into the building from the Acme lead is obvious, but satellite photos appear to show tracks on the east side of the property, including 2 swit...

Re: GDLK Operations

The interurban trackage went almost due south thru Padnos. The LS&MS went southeastward towards Coca Cola and on to the plaster mines and Lamar. NS goes/went into Padnos on the west side of their property, we went in on the east side of the property. Trackage within the yard would have been for the...

Re: WANTED: Conductor's Hat

Not sure why this was dug up, but this post is from 2010 Jonathon, if you want to be known as a good conductor, then wait until your seasoned co-workers say you've earned that title; then you'll have something to really be proud of....just don't make your head any bigger by trying to label yourself...

Re: Burley Park Railway

Last I heard, they were still running the train on the select flee market days, but I do not know if they steamer is still operating. I know they have a gas powered diesel locomotive as well as the steamer. I have only seen the diesel whenever I've been in the area to see it in operation.

Re: Corrupt a Wish

I wish to know what the phrase "Cats in the Cradle" means? Granted. It means you don't have to make any sense in life, that your dad will focus on his job instead of you, but you'll be ok in the long run, and it'll be his loss. Just ask this stoned Conway Twitty: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/etundhQa724/...

Re: Track Work on CSX west end

When I drove over the BUS-196 ramp yesterday after work, the ballast cars and the empty track equipment cars were parked in the reefer track. Nice to see some work being done up this way.

Re: Corrupt a Wish

I wish there were more pheasants
Granted...but they become increasingly aggressive as the population rises and they begin attacking humans in retaliation for years of over hunting.
