Re: UP Derailment near Dixon IL
UP is going to be paying big time labor costs for that one.

Can the entire Upper Peninsula be far behind, on the For Sale list? At least the tracks east of Escanaba, anyhow.

Re: Great Lakes Central Passenger TC
The trains between San Yard and Durand run 10 mph tops and rock all over the place now. There is still the matter of a reversing move at Selma Yard in Cadillac. The line from Walton Junction to TC got work recently, but it still isn't better than Class 2. These are just a few of the issues right off...

Does the station have an asbestos issue? It could be that CSX has been kicking the can down the road on tearing it down, because they didn't want to pay to deal with asbestos mitigation?

Re: Millbury, OH
I know Vickers doesn't even approach 140 a day, not even 100 a day. That said, it's rarely boring. Maybe someone on this board can win the lottery, then buy that chunk of farmland that borders the junction, then turn it into another railfan park?

Re: NRE in Dixmoor and Silvis
Looking at the satellite images of both Dixmoor and Silvis, it would appear that the locations have @ 3 dozen, and @ a couple hundred locomotives, respectively. They appear to be in various stages of service or scrap. Wondering what happens to all those loco bodies and the scores of thousands of par...

The only one I know of for certain is a rock train out of Carey, that comes east through Greenwich at sunrise most mornings.

Re: GLC Acquiring SD35's?
I think the fate of the GP 35's rests largely upon the success of integrating the SD 35's into the system, the individual mechanical condition of the GP's, and projections for future traffic levels. We know that GLC is power hungry, and nothing sits around idle.

Does AA still interchange Chrysler traffic with NS at Milan? Prior to the pandemic that was a seven day a week operation. It may have changed since. I've been that way several times the last three months, and I've seen NS power at the north end of Ottawa Yard on several occasions. I also see AA wor...

Now, will CN start getting container traffic into Moterm from Quebec and Nova Scotia? These Panamax ships are sailing to east coast ports more and more now.

Re: Wabash Indiana Video & One With a 150plus cars & a DPU :)
Since the first time I saw that bridge about a decade ago, I've dreamed about getting an over-under shot with a southbound on the Marion Sub, and a westbound on the Wabash. Got to imagine my odds are nearly the same as hitting the Powerball.

Boone, Iowa Welcome Train
BOONE, Iowa—The final piece of equipment for the Boone Rotary’s Centennial Project, the Boone Welcome Train, made the trip to it’s new home Thursday morning. Beginning at 9:00, the enormous 2-8-0 steam engine, pulled by Berghorst and Son, Inc. a heavy hauler from Hull, Iowa, took a trip from the Boo...

Re: CSX Doing Track Work in Central Indiana?
It's been that way for a few years now. I've hung out twice in the last two years at Muncie, from early/mid morning, until late in the afternoon, and saw almost entirely NS action. Seems like early afternoon can be hot for NS there.
Re: IORY Lima
Thank You, ConrailDetroit.
IORY Lima
Going to be in Ohio this week around the IORY south of Hamler, and down past Lima. I'm looking for any info on usual times or days the IORY runs north and south out of Lima. Also would like any info on the CFE through Lima. Thanks.

Everything has slowed down a bit, but it's beginning to rebound. You're not going to get skunked at either location, but there could be some serious lulls in the action from time to time.

Once you can travel to Canada again, standing on the College Avenue bridge near the Windsor portal is a great way to get a visit from either of CP Rail Police, Canadian Customs, or the Windsor Police. It's been forever since I've been to either end of that tunnel.

Re: CN Idles Battle Creek Yard 04/03/2020
Challenging times for sure for all the railroads. What to keep going and what to idle? The silver linings in the clouds; they can get large infrastructure projects done with less disruption to existing traffic, and they do not have to worry about everything going back to normal at once. It will take...

Re: Engineer Attempts To Drive Locomotive Into USNS Hospital
One would think that an engineer of all people would have enough brain power to realize his plan had no chance to succeed. He must have watched 'Unstoppable' and 'Runaway Train' back to back, in a drunken stupor.
