Re: RCO locomotive question

The brake console is set up for "trail". The automatic is in Handle Off position and the independent is cut-out. The remote system has its own brake control valves. Not sure what he is talking about on "control voltage", unless he is reading a meter on the back wall. The meter on the right is the am...

Re: CSX on Conrail Shared Assets

A little trivia for the modelers, the Atlas Penn Central 2-bay covered hopper is the same road number as the sand car that was at Sterling Yard.

Re: CSX on Conrail Shared Assets

I ran in and out of SAA from Split Date until about 2003-2004, when I was on 304/305. That train ran Stanley to Sterling Heights daily. The job came off sometime after I got off of it and all the SAA cars from CSX were then handled through CSX Rougemere, because the Detroit Terminal Sup't wanted to ...

Re: CSX Signal Question

Yes, there were 3 different sections to the signals in the book after split date. the Seaboard (CSX Standard as they are now called), the "C-" prefix rules which were Chessie (B&O & C&O) and "CR-" prefix which were CR/NORAC aspects. B&O CPL aspects have been moved to the CSX Standard section, and CS...

Re: CSX Signal Question

That is not correct. The different sets of signal rules are divided into distinct sections in the CSX rulebook. As shown, they are both Rule C1288 (which is Chessie-derived). It doesn't matter how the graphics actually look, and I would bet that the rulebook author simply copied/pasted the graphics...

Re: CSX Signal Question

My signal chart is ripped right out of our rule book and the sign entering the signal rules specifically calls out the rule numbers. You can see the same / similar sign going the opposite direction near the Plymouth Diamond on the line that runs to GR. What is the difference then between 1288(a) an...

Re: CSX Signal Question

What you have to understand about these signal charts, is that the square head aspects are the "Seaboard" or CSX Standard aspects. The oval head aspects are the C&O aspects. While not shown here, the Conrail aspects are depicted by round head aspects. That should be a slow approach. 10 mph past the ...

Re: Deshler Northwest Wye Removal?

The long stretch is formerly the northwest siding. The south switch was just north of the diamond. The NW Wye switch off the NW siding was a hand-throw until the 1990s when Deshler's plant was modernized. In the zeal of eliminating trackage, the south switch was removed, essentially making the track...

You must be referring to the iron ore train and the corresponding empties, not coal. Also, it's Mon-Fri.
