How long can the trains get on the GLC. I don't think I have seen anything over 30 cars.

A lot of that stuff has been removed. The signal boxes you speak of actually are from before the 70's they were only there when both lines were active. When it was just the GTW you would never see a signal along the whole route. So a lot of what you are seeing is from the 50's and 60's.

I know where i will be taking pictures this weekend. I have always wanted to go there but the neighborhood seemed too classy for me. Hopefully the TSA will not haggle me.

Actually if you approach the site from the tracks you will be on public land for most of the spur. The power plant is right on the edge of the property. and I visible fromt he tree line. You can also just ask the security guard he might be nice enough.

I just looked and the road bed is still there and so is the platform the used to dump the coal cars but all else is gone. They even took out the bridge over the creek I think.

I did do that and got some steam pics of poor quality. The Lake Orion Historical Group no longer exist so I got nothing from them.
