I am planning on going in January so I will have less vegetation to deal with. This looks great. It is either this line or the line to Avoca.

Re: Durand yard, fall 1994
Why did turn tables and roundhouses fall out of favor in railroading. If they could handle big steam why could they not handle diesel. What roundhouses/turntables are still in use?

I think I found the trail. It looks to me like there is an intact spur between Avaco and Yale. but it does not connect to anything active. It think this is where your man made pond is.

Help Hiking Advice Needed
I am planning a January Southeast Michigan (Port Huron, Durand, Ann Arbor, Detroit area) hike. I need an abandoned rail line that has not been all made over and can still have some awesome artifacts on it, has nice scenery in January, and is not to rugged. I was thinking the Wahdam to Avaco trail bu...

And now for something completely different
This is for the railroad workers out there. I know in the nose of most locomotives including the GP 9's and 38's there is a bathroom . In the old F 7's it used to be in the back of the locomotive but now it is in the front. So my question is, when you are moving and in operation and you gotta go... ...

So is VIA trying to build high speed rail like we are. How fast did the train average in speed. I am assuming you have a speedometer app on your cell, so as to be able to answer such questions.

Made it about six miles from Thompsonvill before the trail was too covered in water from the rain. Sorry Robert I did not call you but I left my cell phone at the cabin. The trail from Interlochen to Thompsonville is devoid of any artifacts except some ties and a bolt I found. I am hoping for a bett...

Whoa a Canadian Railroad still uses F7's for revenue frieght. Excuse me as I wipe the foam off my Key Board. Where exactly is this and how do I get there from Detroit. Also when do they run.
