Re: Rail-Trail Trespassers?
Do you see any tracks. Someone removed the rails. That is why none of the photos show any rail. http://www.northjersey.com/news/205718011_Rail_removal_along__highline__remains_a_mystery.html?page=all http://www.nj.com/bergen/index.ssf/2013/09/rail_company_wants_residents_to_stay_off_community-creat...

So you think the operator could have stopped the train on a dime?Chrisracer8903 wrote:Did you see how much time he had to stop the train? It didn't look like he tried to stop either.redcrumbox wrote:Why?12Bridge wrote:Whoever was running that train should be fired on the spot.

Re: Considerate Graffiti artists?
Takes a few hours for two people to do a full side boxcar. Here is the person that painted the hula girl. Although its not a boxcar, it gives you an example that it doesn't take long to paint. These people have more paint stashed then the local hardware store. BIZnpNI_xJU Clearly, those full side pa...

Re: Considerate Graffiti artists?
I looked around the web and found the person that painted the hula girl. Other photos on the site showed what looked like California as some of the locomotives were yellow. The person was painting another boxcar in the yard and in daylight while rail workers were doing their job. There was even a fe...

Re: CP sells DM&E west end to G&W
I don't think the entire line has been a "solid 25" for more than 40 years. CP did rebuild the DM&E line quite a bit so my guess they did get much of it to 25mph. CP promised to rebuild it, but the governor of South Dakota has gone on the record with the STB saying the railroad hadn't lived up to i...

Re: MMA Crude Train Derails and Explodes
How do they know that the train was a runaway ? I'll wait here. :? They found the five locomotives with their brakes still set. It isn't clear to me if they found them where it had been parked 4km uphill, or somewhere intermediate. But the locomotives did not go down into town with the tank cars. I...

Re: MMA Crude Train Derails and Explodes
Looking at ariels, I counted 30 or 40 cars piled up yesterday. It was either 30 or 40, can't remember. But either way, the whole 70+ car train is not there... This video shows the fred flashing. Several of the rear cars managed to stay on the rails. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23260199

Power REIT which owns the P&WV real estate that the W&LE(NS) leases was in the process of suing NS for renegotiation of the current lease and something like 50M in payments. CN already has iron ore, limestone and frac sand bound for the pittsburg area anyways.

Re: West, TX explosion
Officials with the State Fire Marshal's Office said a rail car found at the site laden with ammonium nitrate did not explode but was blown off the company's rail spur when the blast occurred. Having 1350 times the amount of ammonium nitrate than the limit that was supposed to have been reported to t...

Re: Seriously
Anybody can sue with the thinnest of cases. Courts should be accessible. Winning is quite another thing! These plaintiffs don't have a prayer, as long as Uncle Pete sticks to their guns. The cancer is people naysaying and deciding the system doesn't work, and so refusing to even try. And thus, caus...

Re: Seriously
Sadly, No Trespassing has no meaning anymore and the railroad will probably lose this one. They better be glad I am not on that jury. What is it with people refusing to take responsibility for their actions. I can't believe a court would even let it get to this point. Money well spent, again.

There is a Certainteed plant and another industry in Oxford. I believe Certainteed is what keeps the line from becoming a trail.adams_aj wrote:Thanks Redcrumbox. Duly noted. Do you know if they have any customers North of Butner?

Looking at the Wood county GIS, the ROW south of Genoa rd is owned by a private individual. Not sure how accurate that info is.

Re: CN's mystery train
Whoa. This could turn out to be a very interesting story. U.S. H.R. 4213, the bill retroactively reinstates the $1.00 per gallon tax credit that expired on December 31, 2009 through the end of 2011. Many biodiesel plants will receive reimbursement on fuel produce after the credit lapsed and before ...

It might not be drywall, but it's something along that line.
