Did it run straight into Elkhart or tie down somewhere?PatAzo wrote:Solid train of empty two bay hoppers went south this afternoon. They must have cleared out all the NS hoppers in GR. I wondered if NS wanted them back or GDLK cleared space for more store cars.

Re: GDLK Operations
~snip~ Leasing companies commonly sell locomotives to companies in lease to buy agreements or the likes. That agreement is between the railroad and the leasing company. I don’t expect anyone outside of the company or lessor to have details on such agreements. Same thing with paint, chill and see wh...

Re: GDLK Operations
While that's certainly a feasible scenario, has it indeed happened with that unit or any other currently leased units to Watco? A number of WAMX units have been repainted by Watco for into schemes for local schools. Watco was founded by Richard Webb, Rick Webb is the current Chairman. WAMX is Webb ...

Re: GDLK Operations
Isn't the 2204 a lease unit? How could they paint that? The WSOR units look absolutely wretched compared to their sister units across the lake on the WSOR. They must not have been ever cleaned since being on GDLK property. You can buy out lease units. NS has bought and painted a ton of lease units ...

Anybody able to confirm that the Elk may paint 2204 into WMU colors? Go Broncos. On a side note I've heard the WSOR units are supposed to be painted this year and maybe the SD45 carbody unit. Re: GDLK Operations
Yeah, but both locos were long hood southbound, with the lead unit with no ditch lights. Your tight though a backward forward movement. Not arguing the orientation of the engines. I've always operated in relation to the direction of the train, and the orientation of the units is arbitrary. Anything...

darn near had a catastrophic event in TR last night. Hundreds of people next to Grand Elk tracks at water festival with carnival rides all along GDLK tracks. Fireworks just get over and people scurrying to get home. Worst night mare 101 comes around the curve with 80 cars blasting horn and proceeds...

Re: C&O Logos on Leased Loco
Because obviously this has nothing to do with CSX. That isn't clear? Reaching out to CSX is nothing but pandering for drama. Exacty my point, if it's a newsworthy piece (as you claim it is to you) then Trains magazine must be leaning toward tabloid style news these days and digging up whatever they...

Re: C&O Logos on Leased Loco
Trains magazine must have bottomed out for news stories to be making one out of this. Why even bother? All they likely did was raise CSX management's radar to the issue to get it painted over and remedied. Because trains reports on all railroad news as such? It's news worthy to me because no matter...

Re: GDLK Operations
Trains have had different call times so one knows not when they're coming. Three Rivers has been a parking lot. Re: GDLK Operations
GDLK 302 just cleared Kilgore Road in Kalamazoo. However, somewhere near I-94 the engineer started blowing the horn at short, regular intervals. I remember reading that such a procedure is used in an emergency. Is that the case? Usually horn usage like that is when approaching a work zone, either r...

Re: Watco Happenings
See Indiana thread. Watco wants to eliminate the CTC from CP Park to Elkhart account of insufficient traffic. This was the signal system from NYC days when the Robert R. Young yard was built in the 50s. Cell phone track warrants now. NS police kicked out the new GM from that yard last week. Says he...
