CN would not run by Howard St over by Stadium Dr if that's where your house is, as they use the line from Kzoo that heads southeast to Pavillion. I was at my house at the time, and the horn came from west of the CP at Howard St., near campus.

It's the wrong direction, that's how I know. It's towards Dowagiac, not Gearhart/Downtown.

Could be a CN local. I don't think the NS local goes to Kalamazoo. What about Amtrak? I don't think CN locos have ITCS. You have to have ITCS to run on Amtrak lines. I know its not them because the horn is WEST towards Dowagiac, not east towards Gearhart.

That depends upon where on that line you are speaking of. There is a NS local that works east from Burns Harbor, Indiana as far as Lawton, I believe. I don't know what time they run but maybe that's what you are hearing. Do you have a scanner with which you could possibly hear the crew calling sign...

Actually, that was put into the MDOT rail plan, two more PM trains to Kalamazoo down the GDLK.
