Re: Appalachian Western Railway
Been a long time since I posted on the Appalachian Western but recently our Roanoke heavy repair and rebuild shops outshopped C39-8R 3900, the first of 15 rebuilt C39-8, for Eastern Locomotive Leasing. http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12189/36AW_C39-8R.gif Also recently outshopped was ...

Re: LSRC/HESR/GLC/AA Updates: August
I was in TC all day and never did here the train. I was never far from the line either. I think they made the run to Williamsburg, based on some physical evidence but I am not sure. The locomotive was not tied down in Cadillac at 1730. :? I live near the tracks and never heard them either. But I wa...

Re: August Travels of a Railfan
Right after I chased the Norther Arrow I went up to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore for a week and managed to get the family to go over to Marquette for the day to railfan the Lake Superior & Ishpheming. So here are three shots with more to come soon. The first shot was taken at the M-35 cross...

Re: A Visit to Northern CO, Eastern WY and Moffat Tunnel
Great shots! I was out there for spring break 2010, but railfanning wasn't a high priority.

August Travels of a Railfan
The last month has been one full of travels. I thought since I haven't posted in a while, over the next couple days I'd display some of the images took throughout the month. I'll start off with the Northern Arrow as it made the trip north to Petoskey. Here it sits along Lake Cadillac waiting for the...

I think that would require the conductor to ride the leading boxcar and flag any unprotected crossings although I'm not totally sure about the second part.wagnew0923 wrote:I guess they cannot push the train from behind

Re: GLC GP35 385 Traverse City 7/31/12
What did it do with the box cars out by Turtle Creek When they only have one engine they aren't able to run around the boxcars or center beams at Amerhart. So they go out to Williamsburg and use the siding, albeit not all of it, to run around. The second car in the shot was an Ontario Northland. I ...

GLC GP35 385 Traverse City 7/31/12
Yesterday I drove out to Bates after hearing GLC come into town. By the time I arrived they had already switched Amerhart and were in Williamsburg running around two boxcars. The lighting couldn't have been more perfect when I caught up to them but as I got set up for my first shot I noticed that wh...

Heard GLC Northbound Traverse City. Going to investigate. :P Now southbound in downtown TC, GP35 385 is the sole power, two boxcars are in tow. Get any pictures? I got a few, but the beautiful sun we had decided to disappear the second I touched my camera. Later tonight I'll post the ones th...

NO! G&W Orange doesn't even compare to GLC blue and white.railohio wrote:I&O almost connects with the Ohio Central which is a recent GWI acquisition.
I'm sure the Michigan foam is drooling of a GWI takeover of AA/GLC to connect everything Up North with the I&O at Diann.

Re: Fixing an Image
It is a .jpg file. I dont know about RAW files. RAW is uncompressed and allows you to tweak stuff like brightness and white balance before compressing the file into a .jpg or .tif file. At least this is how I understand it. Most camera's aren't able to shoot in RAW format. You also need a special p...

Last weekend I was camping with the family near Trout Lake. Since I only had one day to go raifanning i decided the best day was saturday. Since other people's reports indicated the Trout Lake-Gladstone Local left Trout Lake around 3:00pm I made my northeast to Trout Lake where I caught a glimpse of...

Re: TSt.L&C
What's BC Rail power doing on the TSCR? I thought the AW made it clear after we leased it that all power was to stay on or near home rails. It looks like I need to have a talk with the Chief officer of Motive Power of BC Rail.

Re: New Book: Michigan Shortline Railroads
Is there a deadline for when you need the pictures? I have some of the GLC in and around Traverse City. But if you can wait for a month or two, I can get many more of GLC north of Cadillac and hopefully LSRC in Gaylord.

Re: TSt.L&C
I hate to do this but the AW owns the Erie Lackawanna scheme. So we kindly ask you to not apply it to your locomotives. The Algoma Central modified the DL&W scheme, which the AW also owns but as Y@ already stated, your design is the AC scheme.
