Re: Cellphone Interference
Just wondering if anyone has problems with their cellphone causing interference on their scanner? I have a Galaxy S5 Active and whenever I get a text, email, etc. it will always cause interference on my scanner for 160.800. I have asked a few people on Facebook and no one has had this problem. Have...

Re: Toledo Questions
I would love to know when the last train over the (southern end) Maumee river swing bridge was. Heck for that matter I would like to know the last time the bridge was actually opened considering the Highway bridge (I-475) is lower and is just a standard bridge and is close enough that if the rail b...

Re: CN or IORY Trains To Ironton/Southern Ohio Anymore?
Just wondering for nostalgia purposes do either of these carriers Canadian National or Indiana & Ohio (Genesee & Wyoming) send any trains to the former endpoint route of the former Detroit, Toledo, & Ironton :?: no Also would there any future business opportunities/economic reasons for either CN or...

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Triple crown isn't actually going away, but the roadrailers are. TCS is switching to containers. More flexible and can be hauled on a conventional stack train. The rumor has been around for a couple years now.

Most of what was there hadn't really worked in quite some time.

N921-08 got their EC1 to go from Lake O to Ensel a few minutes ago. ------ There Train just went into emergency at 18:45. It sounds like the loco at the back of he train is having problems. If MP 125.6 is between Lake O and Ensel, it's this train. 125 is Clarksville or darn close to it...120 is bas...

The crossing on the west side of the park at Deshler crossing the SW wye is currently tore out, they are replacing ties. The only way in/out is coming in from the east side. FWIW take that crossing really slow, it's pretty rough.

Boasting over one hundred trains per day, the former Santa Fe mainline stretches for 238 miles between Chicago and Fort Madison, Iowa No, you said over 100. Z wins. Like stated previously, the Chilli Sub does not see over 100, or really close to 100 trains per day. Around 70-75 is a better count, s...

Re: Chicago line meltdown.
Living up here close to "Chicago Mains" of NS and CSX I can tell you that both of them are at the brink. NS does have two things going for them though, there are a lot of sidings West of Toledo where they can park trains and are still able to keep both tracks open and they don't have NWO thrown int...

Some of those things can't be avoided...I get occasional oddities on railroad frequencies at McDonalds too... I know some occasional interference is to be expected, I'm okay with that. This was really powerful, and new. I had not experienced it before. Had it been on any other channel, I would have...

Re: NYC Searchlights...or Whatever They're Called
Most of the signals are from when the New York Central put in CTC. I don't have an exact date other than late 50s. There aren't any significant grades on the Chicago Line. Most if not all the signals on the NYC up there were configured on brackets like so: (Mark Hinsdale photo) http://pc.smellycat....

Re: NYC Searchlights...or Whatever They're Called
I don't think anything up there is a searchlight, they are what is called a "type g". Almost all the signals up there were on bracket masts at one time.
