Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread

I think there are still segments between Defiance and Napoleon that need to be upgraded. The bulk of the grant work has been done between on the Indiana to Defiance segment. On some segments I think you are right they could go 25 MPH.

Apparently CEFX 2014 and 2022 GP 20D are on the Keokuk Junction. Don't know if they are purchased or being leased.

Fall Grain Rush?

What are the peak months for hauling grain in Michigan? I assume early to late autumn but that is just a guess. I remember in the late1990s CSX used to store grain cars on the East Lansing Trowbridge passing siding around this time of year.

Re: ADBF Ownership Change

That's true in some shortline company. However the corporate culture at what once was Pioneer Railcorp has been changed and actually it looks like the company is being run professionally maybe for the first time.

Yes I forgot the length of the sidings on the PM tend to constrict the size of the trains and the fact it is single tracked for most its way through Michigan.

Re: Butler Indiana diamond NS

I like to do train photography and Butler isn't the greatest place to do that. Its great though if you just want to watch trains. So I can't tell you the volume of traffic through Butler. I tend to go to Waterloo. On Memorial Day which may be lighter than normal we caught 12 NS trains and 2 CP train...

Re: Copper mining set to resume in White Pine

They will need a big mining company to put 500 million to build a mine. Silver and copper prices are high now but 5 10 or 15 years from now?
