Re: Patriot Rail to acquire Pioneer Lines

More consolidation should lead to lower overall corporate overhead. I assume the equity funds that own Pioneer are cashing out. They did a solid job of moving Pioneer into a safer more modern shortline company.

Re: East Lansing Railfan Tips

Dan has been a long time Lansing rail fan and his comments are correct. Its unpredictable. East Lansing still offers a safe area to watch trains although its far from what it once was when CP was using CSX. I think Taco Bell is still left if fast found is your thing. Wendys and Subway closed. The st...

Re: Elkhart and Western Project

Pioneer Lines (former Railcorp) has done a nice job under the new ownership slowly rebuilding the ND&W. Besides the Elkhart and Western they snagged a nice grant for their Gettysburg and Northern line in PA.

TPW Boxcar

I could have put this in the history section. I can remember when railroads used boxcars as billboards to advertise their service.

Re: Fuel Prices Truck vs Train

Just wondering if the big trucking are putting more trailers on railcars and more intermodal. Ditto shortlines vs local trucking.

Fuel Prices Truck vs Train

Has the increases in diesel fuel caused any major shifts from freight on trucks to railroads either shortlines regionals or majors?

It would be interesting to look at total tonnage carried over the Plymouth Sub the past 20 years.

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub

I assume the Plymouth Sub is profitable so why would CSX want to get rid of it? GLC interchange at Ann Pere has grown

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - April 2022

Question for Tom and others. There was a meet at Trowbridge on Saturday. I noticed both trains had steel coil cars more than I had seen on past CSX trains in the Lansing area. Is there a reason for this? Thanks in advance.
