Re: Amtrak issues

About 10-12 years go when I was riding frequently it was normal for all of the Michigan trains to have power at each end.

Re: Solar eclipse in Ohio

I -69 was congested to capacity but mostly fluid coming and going. A few bog downs near Fort Wayne each way but other than that it was fine. Much better than trying to cross the Ohio on eclipse day in Evansville in 2017.

Re: What is this track?

It is most likely a split rail de-railer. It's purpose to put rolling stock on the ground rather than on the mainline in the event the stock is running away or otherwise moving with out proper track authority. It is more effective than other styles of de-rail devices that just sit on top of the rail...

Absolutely. We will be traveling to somewhere as close to the center of the path of totality as we can get. Staked out several locations within one days drive. Will make a final determination day of based on the weather.

Re: Would You Rather?

Would you rather own one pair of shoes or one coat? Coat. For sure. As long as it was black and I could wear it for work. Gotta have lots of shoes. Shoes for every occasion. Biking, Hiiking, walking, running, skiing, church, driving. etc etc etc. Would you rather your hair turn brilliantly white or...

I am looking forward to this thread. I don't like that vandals paint cars but admit I can appreciate their work.
Agree. Bring on the photos. And keep your spray paint at home.

Re: Fun Friday TLU Poll

I like the Amtrak updates but find the CSX the most useful as it is the line that runs through my hometown. The most likely place for me to see a train on days when I am at home. Before the superscanner I monitored my portable scanner all day when I was around and posted any tidbits I heard. Often t...

Re: Where Is It?

The building was a filling station cashiers counter originally. There were still a couple of derelict gas pumps and the driveways there when I was a very young lad. Later taken over by the lake Odessa area chamber of commerce. They stocked it with some brochures for a while. Then filled it with jun...

I am indeed aware.

Railfanning. Serious. Business.

I actually developed that paradigm. I wrote my Railfanning thesis on it.

Re: West Michigan short line TLU

I think every single report should be its own thread. I don’t wanna sift through all of the other updates to find my train. Nevermind that it’ll just clutter up the list of threads rather than the threads themselves. We wouldn’t want to apply any logic here. Agree with Alex. I have often thought ea...
